Why a Ford in a Mopar? Why not stick with a Mopar drivetrain?

Hello, I'm new here and I love this truck project. I have a 38 Plymouth that I will also be installing 302 Ford engine and c4 trans in it.

Please don't do that, a mopar deserves a Mopar in it.
AZ_A12_BEE bought that truck with the ford in it and in the future he plans to change it to a mopar drivetrain , but for now he can enjoy it as is.
but if you are starting your build please sell off the ford stuff and build the truck the right way from the start.
a small block mopar fits great in these trucks.

fords belong in fords not in a mopar.

Yes, it looks like it was wrecked at one time and someone put the Dodge grille in it.

I would love to put a Chrysler engine and trans in it, but I have a friend that is giving me a low mileage 302 and C4 trans.

I figured I could use the saved money to do something else on the truck. I am still early in the planing stages as the truck runs fine with the original engine.

I am curious to see what needed to be done to install the Ford drivetrain.

lets look at this a different way.
say you had a 1963 corvette or a 70 barracuda.
and someone gave you a free ford engine or a free 4 cyl Toyota drive train, would it make any sense to use that drive train just because it was free
no it would ruin a good car. in my opinion....

I would rather you sell that truck to some one that will put a mopar in it and find yourself a ford to use that drive train in.

I know it's your truck and you can do whatever you want to it but just think how much cooler it would be if you kept it all mopar.

ford people could care less about a mopar
and mopar people won't like it because its ford powered,
Just sayin'

It's an easy install from the looks of it, just 2 welded on motor brackets and a fabricated trans cross member. It's actually a pretty crappy job quality wise. I do plan on upgrading to a 5.7 Hemi/trans and 86 the Ford 8 inch rear for a B body Dana 60 that I already have.

Welcome to the board jingro, neat looking old truck. While I tend to agree with the sentiments of the “go with a MOPAR engine” crowd it is your truck.

The headlight looks good, have you gotten anymore drive time on it?

Ron,

We share the same view here. I think the point of building a Mopar rod is to be different and putting a belly button drivetrain in it defeats the purpose.

I am a rodder and use lots of different things like a Ford differential or a GM alternator, etc. The only thing I am a purist
about is a Chrysler engine.

Rodding is a freedom no rules kinda thing and someone is free to build as they choose but why be another sheep in the herd?? Like LS engine hype in a Mopar. I hate to inform them but the 5.7 Hemi is a good engine with lots of power potential.

If the Frames are similar to the '39 to '47 trucks and a person wants keep the straight axle, an LA Chrysler is a drop in!!

You gonna pay for it?

You gonna do the work?

Then who cares what your opinion is.

IT IS NOT YOUR TRUCK, YOUR MONEY OR YOUR CHOICE!

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

AZ_A12_BEE so sorry your thread went sideways.

Steve. we were just stating a view on how WE FEEL a mopar rod should be built with a mopar engine and hopefully getting someone to see why a mopar in a mopar is a better way yo go. (especially on a mopar site)

there is no need to get mad and throw insults about opinions.

looking at resale or worth
a ford or chevy guy could care less about a mopar rod.

they would not be interested in it because its not the brand they like.

and the mopar guys would not be interested in it because its not mopar powered.
so it make more sense to use a mopar in a mopar.
just like it makes more sence to use a chevy in a chevy

OK now lets get this thread back on AZ_A12_BEE build Ron...
