good news first - was able to put together my 13" front disk brakes from Andyf today (Mercedes Rotors and longer hubs, viper calipers purchased separate) and they are a direct bolt on for magnumforce drop spindles, no washers needed now for the bad news - I bought the 17x9 rallye rims from year one back last october, finally get the 13" disk brakes on so I throw on the rim to check my spacing and guess what, The viper calipers are too big. Not by much either. the are just touching at the ends of the caliper. I bought 17" wheels as they said it would clear the 13" disk brakes. For future reference this kit will NOT fit the year one rallye rims too bad that i already bought the rims, tires and center caps...will post some pics when I get the chance

If you can post pictures, a .25" spacer might be needed? On a good note the calipers are fixed instead of floating.

where's the interference? the face of the caliper to the back of the spokes? or the diameter of the caliper hitting the diameter of the rim?
If it's diameter based, maybe you can do some light clearancing of the caliper to get it to clear? or see how thick the rims are and try to turn them on a lathe to provide more clearance?
or a combination of both...
if it's from the face of the rotor to the backside of the wheel face, a simple spacer will be fine. once the wheel is torqued down, the loads on the wheel studs, wheel bearings, etc. is no different than a different wheel with a shallower offset.

It sucks that you had to find out the hard/expensive way that those wheels don't fit with that brake kit, but sometimes that's just how it goes.
for the most part, those 13" brakes DO clear 17" rims. Gen 1 and 2 Vipers have 13" brakes and came from the factory with 17" wheels, and there are a multitude of aftermarket wheels out there that clear the stock viper brakes.

There are ways around this. Do the wheels inner shells get narrower the further out it gets? A spacer can cure this. If its a flatout diameter thing, you can machine the caliper adapters down a little and even shave the outer diameter of the rotor down some too. You just MAKE THEM SUMBITCHES work. Even if it means turning them into 12.93" brakes. I had to turn my brand new 14.25 Viper kit into a 13.98 kit because when I measured the wheels I didnt measure the entire inner diameter inside to outside. Lesson learned, there was a little bit of rotor surface the didnt have pad contact which allowed me to do this too. Dont grind the fricken caliper though man.

I'm not really surprised, the 13 inch rotor with a big caliper is a tight fit into a 17 inch wheel.
My Viper kits were only qualified on Mustang rims. The hub nose was designed to Ford specs so the Mustang rim would be a bolt on. Even then, some of the Ford Racing 17 inch rims didn't clear so my instructions listed the wheel part number that did fit properly.

Unfortunately, the new Year One 17" wheels do not have much caliper clearance.
Hi cass will your new gen 1 viper kit 11.75 by 1.25 work with these wheels...? I own your new kit and it's really sweet..and I have the new year one magnums.
the 11.75" should clear without a problem - like I said my gen 2 calipers just barely touch on both ends, the 1st gens are alot smaller...
1)I'm gonna try to get a hold of some spacers to see if that works, looks like it does taper in slightly but if its more than what I would like I may just upgrade to 18's instead, how big of a spacer would i be able to run on those studs before I would have to go to those bigger spacers which bolt on the stud and then the wheels bolt on separate studs?
2)I could probably get the caliper bracket machined down a bit and machine the rotors as well, but I'd like to avoid going to a machine shop everytime I need new rotors, although If its cheap I may end up doing it - how much do you think this would cost?
3) If I do go 18" what are good sizes to look for? would like to keep them around 26"
sorry for the bad pics, tried to take it with my camera phone, played with some settings, still didn't get them the way i wanted:
andyf's kit
rim on car
top of caliper - about 1/2" - 1" touching the rim
bottom of caliper - about 1-2" touching the rim, (don't be fooled by the shadow cast)
I'm on vacation as of monday morning - I won't be able to respond to you guys till i get back on friday - thanks for the replies!!!

Sorry I have had less than 8 days off since Aug(not kidding) I did manage to get the caliper brackets back. I shaved off 3/16" off the face which leaves me with less than a 1/8" from the top of the viper caliper, which I hope is more than the expansion of the rotors when hot. Put it all together and the end of the caliper on the one side just barely touches the inside of the rim. I literally cannot shave anymore of the bracket so i'm gonna call this busted. I could try some big spacers but i don't have anymore room. I would like to try a different 17" rim and I will whenever I get a free moment. I'll keep you posted. Please no emails about Buying the rims, their spoken for, ditto goes for selling the brake setup, I'm keeping that

Spin the rotors on a lathe and take the OD down a wee bit. That will give you more room to take height out of the bracket.
I just came back on here to suggest that too!

Thought of this but how crazy do I wanna go here? Do I wanna mill the rotors every time I get a new set? How much clearance does one need between the wheel and the caliper that won't end up causing problems?

I would just get a 1/8-3/16" billet spacer and call it good.
