I am going to be finishing my exhaust soon and would like to paint it silver. What do you guys recommend? I would like to buy something off of the shelf.

I used Rustoleum silver BBQ paint. Used it on my headers and some areas of exhaust welds where I didn't want rust popping up. Works great.

Thanks. VHT was the way that I had been leaning for the collectors to the tailpipes.

Just a question. What kind of metal is your exhaust made of? Mine is all aluminized (both on my '76 pickup, and my '71 340 Duster), never rusts (best damn stuff for exhaust). But I did have to paint the stock manifolds (VHT baby!).

Yup, I use aluminized pipes too. If you don't know, it's steel tubing that's coated in a thin layer of aluminum. the pipes do NOT rust.

however, if you weld your system together, the welds will rust. that's the only rust on my whole system, right at the welds.

I've scuffed the aluminum coating with a scotchbrite pad then coated with Eastwood's exhaust system paint{even the mufflers}...Why ??? As stated the welds do rust but also because now I can go back and with a quick touch-up have the whole system look brand new...

I can't beleive how much crap flies up and scorches itself to the pipes sometimes...
