I am looking to refresh my front suspension (1970 Belvedere). Any suggestions on a good budget minded rebuild kit?

Thanks!

Yes, sounds like a common question. I did the search and was getting an error that all words were too short. Never seen that before. After I got frustrated from 15 minutes of trying with no success, I thought that I would ask the question. But thanks for the helpful advice

Forget the kits, buy all the items you need individually from RockAuto. Quality stuff and you'll save a bundle.

If everyone did this there'd be no discussion on here. If you have nothing positive to say, get lost.

Keep those repetitive questions coming, it keeps this site alive!

I purchased a kit from Firm Feel. Good parts, good service and competitive for high quality parts.

I was originally looking at a kit from Right Stuff for $182, no idler or pitman arms. I'll check out the a la cart option from Rock Auto.

Thanks!

Budget minded and Quality don't normally go together.

I went to Rock Auto and priced out all Moog components. Comes in a few dollars cheaper than the Right Stuff Detailing kit I was looking into.

Related Question: Any opinions on Raybestos Service Grade versus Moog (no quality level indicated in name, although some say Problem Solver).

Moog problem solvers are usually to help correct a problem the factory had.Get the offset bushings for upper control arm if you are running radial tires. They get you more caster.Just have to instal them opposite of the instructions.Rocky

I have seen some posts in the past with guys trying to figure out how to actually install the offset bushings correctly. You may find me resurfacing for clarification on that one when the time comes. Thanks!

Well, I used the "kit" from PST on my 1970 Sport Satellite. I have to admit, I went with tubular upper controls arms, c/w ball joints, and bushings installed, from Firm Feel. The rest of the kit was "ok" . . . however, I can see now, after 3800 miles, that I am going to replace the idler arm - the one in the kit is a POS !!! . . . Hope the lower ball joints from the kit hold out longer !!! If I were to do it all over again, get a kit from Dick @ Firm Feel, or do the individual components from Rock Auto.

Sure seems that finding these "common" parts for our old cars, up here in Canuck-land, is getting harder and harder.

Just my two cents . . .

Good luck

Get the pitman arm and idler arm from Rick Ehrenberg ... he usually has them advertised in the b-body parts "for sale" sections here ... Moog items !!

In May I had to replace the lower control arm bushings in my Charger. They had less than 5000-6000 miles on them since I replaced everything in 2002-2003. I'm not sure if they wore out because they were crappy parts or if I made the rookie mistake of tightening the LCA bolt with the suspension at full droop.

I am running Radials, and will use the offset bushings per your advice. When I take the car in for alignment, what should I give them as a caster target (Car will be a daily driver)?

so the instructions show the offset toward the frame rail pushing the upper balljoint out away from the car but they should be put in so that it sucks the upper balljoint in toward the car?
