A-body 7 1/4 rearend- what kind of brakes? #148072

Hi i have a 7 1/4 rearend that came off a 73 valient...it has the big bolt pattern, but i was wondering what size brakes came on this car...i have the backing plates, they measure about 11 inches in diameter but i am not sure what kind of brakes fit on this rear end...can someone help me out and give me some advise...i dont want to buy the wrong hardware . 10" brakes should be on a BBP A body 7-1/4" rear.

My 75 Sport with big bolt 7 1/4 has 10" brakes.

I am pretty sure that BBP 7&1/4's no longer had 9" brakes available.

That is correct. The 9" brakes were still available, but only in SBP.

Quick way to tell from the backing plates is to count the mounting studs. 9" brakes have 4, 10" brakes have 5.

11" brakes will bolt on to the 5 stud housing too.
