will 8 1/4" 10 inch rear brake hardware interchange with 8 3/4" 10 inch A body rear brakes?
A body 8-3/4 brakes are unique. 8-1/4 brakes will not fit with stock A body 8-3/4 axles, the offsets are different.

A Body 8 3/4 (Small bolt pattern) brakes do not interchange. 4 1/2" bolt pattern parts will interchange from a 8 1/4 to a 8 3/4 and also a 9 1/4 and a Dana.

I'd like to know more about this. The "offset" is built into the brake supports, right? Why couldn't an 8 1/4" brake setup work? They physically fit the 8 3/4 housing. Is it a matter of the amount of axle shaft and hub that sticks out of the housing? I have mixed and matched parts here many times and it worked out fine. Maybe I got lucky?
Depending on the body platform yes , EXCEPT for small bolt pattern A bodies , the axle offset is different, it's a 1/4 LESS than everything else EXCEPT for 66-69(70 ???), B bodies with 7.25 rear and 10" brakes , they have the same offset as the small bolt A body.

i realize the 8 3/4 (4") have the narrow folded parking brake strut which is unique and the shoes are also narrower at 1 3/4 but thought all the other hardware would interchange?
What year rear do you want to pull the brakes off of ?
I would have to look at my 69 parts manual to confirm but I want to say NO on swapping the backing plates.

My A body 8 3/4 has backing plates and correct parking brake strut levers and actuators. ...i need drums, shoes and hardware
Your question is very cryptic and having to drag the info out of a person makes it harder to answer. Just an FYI , it's best to list as much info as possible when asking a question.
The shoes and the hardware are readily available , it took me less than 5 minutes to find the part numbers on rockauto.com, the hard parts to find will be the rear drums., I don't know if they are still available and if they are they will not be the flared drums as were found originally on your car.
