The exhaust on my 2006 dodge diesel truck is about shot in the rear section and I have a 10% of coupon from Summite that expires on the 4th. Can anyone recommend a nice set-up. Should I go from the cat back or go the whole way. I live in Pa with no emissions tests needed if that matters. Thanks guys.

havent looked at prices yet. what guy's tell me is save your money if the truck is stock. dont need a highend exhaust.Put that money into other mods. That being said price out cat back. but if you got the money to burn replace with a HP exhaust and be done. IMO

Thanks. I am not really looking for performance as it tows my 24 foot car trailer great. Its just the exhaust is rusted out. It only has 76000 miles on it so I guess the engine is still covered to 100,000 miles.

Unless you have an aftermarket warranty on the truck your engine warranty expired in 2011. It is 5 year/100,000 miles from the date the truck is put in service (sold new). Diamond Eye and MBRP make some nice stuff. I've installed quite a few of both kits and never had any issues.

MBRP makes a nice kit and they fit really good. Pretty cheap if you get a straight pipe system ($250), but they have kits w/ mufflers too ($320) if you want it to be quieter.

Definitely want quiet. Where I was parked in the driveway I could slid under it and take a quick look. Tailpipe shot, muffler shot, pipe going into muffler disconnected completely. My son works at a scrap yard and he said the convertor on this truck are bringing in real nice money right now. Other than this the truck is in nice shape.

Don't know if you did anything yet, but I was in the same boat- stock truck and just wanted a good replacement. I went with the 4" Dynomax. It's quiet, cheap, and seems like a well built system. Not car stuff- all heavy wall pipe and truck style clamps. IIRC it less than $300 and had a rebate from Walker. Been on a few years now and lasting well.

I would do away with the over axle tailpipe and go with a 4" muffler and short tail pipe exiting the passenger side in front of the rear tire. Less bends = better flow maybe a mile or two better mileage.

I'm pretty sure in PA to pass inspection it must exit behind the rear wheel unless it was done from the factory in front. Most inspection places don't push that, but technically it shouldn't pass.

I can promise you that the lack of tail pipes is going to have no affect on your fuel mileage one bit.

I used the MBRP as well, Had it for about 4 years. Stainless steel and still looks great. Sounds good, not loud

I towed my 24 foot race car trailer, quad, 70 Duster, and all other needed tools and supplies the one hour tow to Pittburge Raceway Park yesterday and with the exhaust broke off right be for the muffler my mileage went up 2 mpg. Very hilly tow and averaged 14.4 now with it broke.

YA, the OE muffler is a big heavy potato. Get a nice system, and do a free spin kit like my Spyntec when your hubs go bad, and you'll get another 2 MPG!
