Just for the heck of it....for a similar project...what all would entail the modification of a 69 Charger to accept the engine/trans of a 2011 Charger? Where do all the wires run? Can they be run to stock gauges? Will aftermarket have to be installed? How will Linkages be run? How about all the sensors, what do you do with the main ECU?

I am pondering something...see if I have the brawn to face a modification of this magnitude

Not sure what it entails but a dude up here got a 71 Scamp with an SRT8 Hemi in it and it is wickedddddd. I guess you would diff have to go with all the electronics and computers .Maybe you could use mechanical guages but i am not sure. Good luck on the make over if you try it .

Get with member AlexP I think he put one in a 70 RR. FWIW the price on those Gen III hemis has really dropped. I think you can get one NEW for around 8k now.

I know Alex...he is my 45th Cousin

I am just looking at purchasing this local 72 Convertible Chevelle SS...and the pathetic 350-2bbl....and I had the bright idea to slip a LS1 in there...make it more streetable...better fuel economy...have some fun with it...sell it down the line..just curious about the electronics and stuff

I've done a couple of LS powered cars....great swap, and with something like that, all the parts you would need are off the shelf. (here at least. )

My Torana...

Oh I would fly back and load up a nice 5x5x5 crate with parts....Can you make me an itemized list of what I need Oz?

I dunno if I should look at a used motor out of a Pontiac GTO / Solstice ..or build something...I'd rather buy a working low mile engine and drop it in

If you are not worried about the weight, and needing an all aluminum combo, a truck 5.3/6.0 can be had pretty cheap! (alloy head, iron block).
(The car versions are usually a little higher hp rating, unless you go pretty late model on the trucks)

An F body (Camaro, Trans-am) would be alot more common/cheaper than a GTO combo of course...

If you did go GTO, you could look for a later model one with a 6.0 LS2 as well...

You'll need engine mounts, headers, and oil pan/pickup... (and perhaps different front accesory drive stuff, depending on what combo you end up with)

Then just fuel system and wiring loom. Either modify a factory one, or plenty of off the shelf ones out there, along with a PCM flash.
