I need to replace an upper ball joint in my 2500 RAM 4 x 4.

Is the MOOG brand of parts as good as any?

Moog at one time was a top of the line High dollar part,, they now have become a normal brand part, despite what anyone else will say or try to tell, It is now just a 'box' part, meaning you pay for the box name!
The part in that box maybe the same part as that of a value craft part, or TRW or what ever!
I have sold many of auto parts in over 10 years of parts sales ,and inventory work,
save your self some money, buy any lifetime part, from anyone you choose, as parts is parts and come from the same maker/box name!,
The biggest issue is and has been putting the part on properly.
By the way I put in several of the value craft ball joints on our 4x4 2 years ago , still no issues, Just always know that a part can go bad at anytime, from any maker.

Sadly I am in basic agreement with Dennis on this. I still use Moog parts, and they still seem to be of good quality, but I am not at all sure that they are actually any better than TRW or McQuay-Norris or other parts store brands. The one area that I think Moog is still ahead on are some of the rubber bushings especially the heavy duty problem solver strut rod bushings.

There just was a very informative thread on this a day or two ago. Might see if you can pull it up (something regarding suspension parts)

With the demise of several TRW group most now are consolidated, Dana, Spicer Trw Seal Power, etc,
The use of multible manufacturing thru the company has been terminated to say,and a lot now has been brought in over seas!
Moog cam to all of our stores removed several TRW boxes made them Moog, As well as A lot of our value branded line up !
I have seen this several times now, and it will continue,
Just so as you know a lot of the parts do use the same rubber,it just maybe black or blue, but same material made at the same plant,
