Send Zippy a PM with that pad info and he should be able to tell you about it.

Does have a sticker on the bellhousing flange telling you how big it can be safely bored ?

Thats the area where the guy said the Cummins tag was on two of the crates he had, there is nothing on this one unless it fell off and is in the crate,I will have to stop by his house and look in it.

He still has the crate ? If it was done by RECON there will be a "made in canada" sticker on it also a date on the crate , what's the date ?

Easiest way to tell if it was made by RECON is to first pull the intake , if it's prior to '05 there is a good chance it will be full of metal chips , after the beginning of '05 you can check up near the top big water holes inside the valley , if you see RED RTV it was done by Cummins ...

The engine shop that I work with just finished up rebuilding a MP crate Hemi. The poor guy who owned that engine ended up paying for it twice. Almost everything needed to be replaced after it had been run for a short time. The motor was full of trash and most of the clearances were wrong. It was really sad to see. The engine ended up being killer nice, but it cost a small fortune for the full rebuild since it took a bunch of time and a ton of replacement parts.

Better safe than sorry. You would probably only be out about $500 for a gasket kit and labor if the engine is put together correctly. If there is bad news inside then the sky is the limit to fix it. If it hasn't been run then it might not cost too much. The engine I looked at had been run a small amount of time which was enough to chew up most of the internals. The bearings, rings and valve train were all set wrong from the factory and it doesn't take much run time for those things to cause major problems when they are wrong.

Arrow built the first versions. The buildups were covered in one of the mopar mags and it specifically said arrow numbered and kept records of all the engines.

By the tag it seems your block was #45 ??

Any date codes or foundry markings on the side of the block ?

There was also a foundry change or 2 on the early style block's

If it's a Arrow motor.. you definately scored

call them and ask... http://www.arrowracingengines.com/

My Cummins only has 472 on the front pad. It has 2 tags on the back. Must stock on good, they were painted over and I scraped paint off and you could still read them. I got mine in a car that had 6000 miles on it and it had already been out. Not sure what was stock but had scat rods, comp cam similar to what should be in it, and ARP head studs. Rear main was leaking so took it out.

Mine is a cummins built around late 2001, its pad is stamped similar to yours

H2355 242

426 (stamped with the numbers 180 out from the above) like yours, hope that makes sense

Handy thread , I have a huge nest coming out of the rake board right above the personal entry door of my garage , I hit the nest last night about 11:30 with wasp spray , a few made it into my garage because I had the overhead door open
