I bought a weld up kit with the tubes I wanted from Stahl and W-9 flanges from SPD http://spdexhaust.com/ and made my own.
The " kit " was a less than pleasant experience. They would have placed cuts and twists in the tubes they sent me , but couldn't tell me where over the phone. The tubes were numbered , but the finished product looked nothing like their welded header. If I did it again , I'd probably go with the partially welded kit for a little more $$.
BUT......I went with 1 7/8ths primaries. They make a 2 " SB header and you could sure talk to them about doing a step , but they did not seem too receptive to going outside what they offer on their web site.
http://stahlheaders.com/ I imagine there are others you could go with too , but this was my path.

Well......I just checked and do not see a 2" small block header listed now. The kit I got was tubes , collectors , flanges ( which I didn't use ....they were standard port S.B. ) collector tabs and hardware and bolts for around 500.00. Not cheap , but much easier than starting with a box full of U bends.

has any body tried to modify a set low deck big block header. by changing the flange. tti sells a 2-2 1/8 step header. for an abody just thinking out side the box

Its a lot easier to get 8 J bends 2" and 8 J bends
at 2 1/8".. they slide in to each other(.062 wall)..
headers are pretty easy to build but its a puzzle you
are playing with... trying to get them all equal length
and FIT but in some cases its FIT first and you cant
come up with equal length... fit is ALWAYS first..
sorta useless if you can get them on.... also you
have to know where to make the step

I thought about this a few years ago. I just bought a kit from the company mention than I believe it was something like what pbody said. j bends 2 and jbends 2 1/8

I have the set I'll sell off Marty's old Duster. I never used them, I built my own. They are a little rough around the edges but they worked real well.

"IF" I ever get the car put together close enough to require headers I'll be hauling it 45 miles up the hill to a guy who fabs up some pretty nice pipe.
