Need help!!!

Was working fine, now won't latch shut.

Everything looks the same and seems to work the same as the passenger side, except the driver's door will latch in the part closed position and won't latch all the way closed.

The screws on the door side were a little loose, but after tightening them, it still wouldn't work, and after trying to readjust the striker I'm having no luck. The door side appears to have zero adjustment anyway.

Seems I've seen this before years ago, and it's an easy fix, just can't remember it!

Thanks!

Mike

Got it!!

Wow, that is a VERY sensitive striker adjustment!!

After tuning it in to where I thought it should be, it still wouldn't work.

Then, I moved it outboard maybe 0.020" and it latched fine!

i remember going through that with my RR years ago! and before that it was the grease that had turned to concrete inside the latch!

Just gotta play with the three screws on the door striker. Are you 100% sure there is the spacer between the door jamb and the latch?

Have you by any chance added door gaskets? I know mine wouldn't close correctly after I put new door gaskets on. You have to really crank those screws down every time you move it otherwise it will jostle around and knock the latest position out.

Does the door sag? If its open, can you lift the end of the door up and down with noticeable play? Maybe the bushings are shot on the hinges

I agree with the old dried grease. I had a problem getting my doors to latch after rebuilding the hinges. Cleaned and lubed the latch assemblies and works like a charm.
