Have a 6903 on my 440. Supposed to be rated at 5.5-6.5 psi. I finally got around to mounting a gauge on it after chasing a rich idle condition that I've never been able to cure. Gauge reads 8.5 psi. I'm pretty sure that's to much pressure for my 4150 800cfm Holley. What are my options here? Can I put a regulator on it? Should I just replace it? Thanks

Put on a regulator

Did you confirm the gauge you are using is reading right ?

gauge was on another regulator that was confirmed to be reading right. I should also say this pump has been on this car since 2002. I have had this problem pretty much since day one so whatever is wrong it's been this way for 11 years.

You're lucky, I had one that put out 11 psi....had to install a regulator.
