I've been reading posts about other events and a recurring topic appears. Several Mopar-only events have been lost over the past year and a couple more are going away soon. The events that survive, suffer from small car counts. YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE in the Chrysler Power Classic at Tri-State. Not just a "heck yeah" on the forums, but you need to show up with your car, your family, your friends, AND RACE. It's not the economy, it's the fear of the economy. I just got done with the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus and it was HUGE. 7000 cars, 1000 vendors and 30,000+ people. Sure, it's all makes, but it shows that people are ready to come out. I have at least four National/Divisional event quality tracks that are ready to work with me on a Mopar series. I'm ready to pull the trigger. In fact, I've been ready to pull the trigger for two years. However, dismal support for Marion County and minimal support for Tri-State last year have stalled those plans. Support so far this year has been encouraging, but YOU NEED TO SHOW UP. The future of our hobby rests on your shoulders.

We brought up this issue quite a few times on different sites and we feel it is not that people don't support the events that is the issue. We feel first and formost is the economy that is hurting events.People do not have the "extra" spendable income and must decide priorities, necessities before fun. Secondly is the high cost of travel expenses, entry fees and related cost. Then we have the number of events that are schudled the same weekend or back to back weekends.People can't pay out large sums of money every weekend and usually need a few weeks in between events to rest and regroup. As for a Hemi Reunion,Jim Kramer put on one hellava show at Quaker but I feel it's two soon to pull it off again. To get all those Hemi cars together is decade type of show. Not many are willing to got through the cost and risk of dragging out those special cars on a regular basis. We can't say for a fact but rumor has it Jim took a big hit in the pocket, are you and Jim willing to take that risk? We share your concerns since we are having a race soon and have done a little research ourselves. We weren't going to have it because of the aformentined reasons, but fortunately Quaker Motorsports Park(Norm Fox) stepped up to the plate as well as past and new sponsership dollars were secured to make the race possible. With out the(risk) venue and dollars being secured up front this race would not happen. I know Jim and Cindy personally and hope for nothing but the best for them.If your counting on the event to be successful and profitable it would be prudent to make sure you have your cost covered up front.Don't take it that I trying to tell you how to run your events, you've been around long enough and seen the ups and downs.Recently we discussed this with others in the business and the concencious is that there is a 20/30 down swing in attendence for single manufacture car events,Mopar,Chevy,Ford and others. The all makes like the Nostalgia Nationals,Good Guys and such will always be a favorite.Me, personally I would like to see the old style "Super Car Shootouts"(all makes of the early muscle car era up to 1972)Revived.Anyway,best of luck.

On a side note: We enjoyed attending the Good Guys this year, even if it was out 39th wedding annv. thought it was a very good turn out. Chasity broke 2nd time trial. Dryshaft broke but will be ready for the Hemi Reunion. Hemi ran both time trials the same. Shame it broke. Melissa redlite first round with an .016 red-lite time run 11.33. Car ran awesome all weekend. Stayed over for Night Under Fire had an awesome time enjoyed our Annv at the track. Melissa red

Jeff what is the format for the NSS racing this year?
I see the Hemi cars are also included in NSS but they run on a dial in and the MW cars run on an index so we are not going to run each other are we? Each a seperate class and purse?
Makes a difference if I will participate or not.
Russ

Any Mopar powered vehicle is welcome. You can pit next to James Brown's 440 Maverick.

Silver Duster is Denny Laube's car. One of the sweetest looking and best engineered cars i'v ever come across, he and his brothers are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. All aluminum Hemi, stick car with a 4 link. He calls it a coffee getter. lol

again i want to thank jeff, jim, roland and everybody involved. yes it would have been great if it had been like quaker city but time keeps passing and alot of the guys from that show are no longer with us so it is what it is. hopefully as we move to the future some of the infighting will disappear and we can have the kind of shows we had before the bottom fell out of the economy. on another note i think it was frito who thought this might have been mr pebody's car so these 2 are for mr p
Thanks for sharing but nope... its not mine

Thanks to EVERYONE who supported this great event! We have a couple hundred photos on our Facebook page: Chrysler Power Classic.
Thank you Jeff for putting on an awesome weekend for the racers. You did a really awesome job. Everything ran smooth with no issues. We had a very relaxing weekend and a busy one also. Thanks again for the 4 time trials on Saturday and 3 time trials on Sunday. Melissa made a comment to Chasity that "one thing she liked about your race is the time trials", Chasity answer to her was "Jeff always gave the racers 4 time trials. You don't see that at other races anymore". We were very excited that Melissa made it down to the QTR finals and won some money. This was the first time in her racing weekend that she has won money that even made it more awesome for her. Dad split the winnings with her so she got her enter fee back. She was happy about that. She got to race one of the best Pro class racers in any series out there Jason Wheatcraft. If she would of cut the lights she cut earlier in the day .019, .029 and .049 she would have took the strip instead of Jason. She was happy with her weekend of racing. Thanks again Jeff you are doing a good job. Keep it up and you will grow again.

Had a good weekend at Tri State, the car count was a little lite in NSS, 15 cars. But considering NMCA had 24 NSS cars at Norwalk and Victory had 34 NSS at Cordova and the Curt George Memorial race w/e before not bad considering. Lots of spectators Saturday and Sunday. Thanks go to 340Rick for the suspension tips, we got the track figured out Sunday morning. You'd look better sitting in a 64 Max Wedge Loved the seeing Frito do some John Force burnouts
