Thinking about buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee used. It has a 4.7 in it, and the dealer told me that there is a code for idle air control. curious to know if this is an easy fix? Where is it located and how do I go about fixing the problem. Thanks

Just because it sets a code for the idle air control does not necessarily mean that part is defective. If the code is due to a dirty/faulty idle air contol motor it is not that big of deal to replace or clean. It is located on the the throttle body. Keep in mind that it could also be a connection or wiring issue setting the code. If all else checks ok, the PCM could be to blame.

I had to change the IAC on my 2002 4.7L grand. It was very simple to do and the part was pretty cheap.

Like was said above though, I'd check the wiring connections to make sure they aren't lose, and that it isn't gummed up first.

Brought the GC home yesterday...Rn pretty decent. Noticed that it would idle kinda high in stop and go traffic. Changed the IAC solenoid this morning. Very easy. Tried clearing out the code 2 or 3 times with no luck. But it does idle and run smoother......BTW, where could I find a pcm??? Rock Auto does no list them..
