Hey Guys!

I'm helping my dad do a disk brake conversion on his 1970 Coronet R/T that came from the factory with manual drum brakes.

We have spindles from a 1973 Dart Sport w/ disk brakes.

The question is... can we use the caliper brackets that we pulled from a 1980 Le Baron which is an M-body.

Most articles that we have (Mopar Action mostly) deal with using A-body spindles and B-Body caliper brackets, but if we can just use the M-Body brackets with the A-Body spindles, that would save some time finding the B-Body brackets.

Also, if the M-Body bracket is usable, do we still use the B-Body rotor and caliper like the rest of the Mopar Action article says?

Thanks guys!

M-body caliper brackets interchange with the stock A-body stuff.

You must swap rotors only if you use the larger 11.75" caliper brackets.

I'm pretty sure the M-body has the smaller rotors, so the mount won't work.

with the Doc.M-body should be exactly like the caliper adapter used on your spindles originally--10.87 and slider type..so those M-body adapter are not an upgrade from originals

Hey Guys!

OK, I must be confused... we have no real need to use the 11.75" rotors... you guys appear to be saying that we can simply use the A-body caliper adapter if we want to use the 10.87" rotors?

Thanks guys!

Yes.

In my opinion, the only reason to stay with the smaller rotors is if you plan on running 14" rims.

Hey!

We just don't want to spend a lot of time scrounging around looking for the specific 11.75" bracket... were there all that many cars built with the large rotors?

I know the list of cars that *can* have them, I'm just wondering what the likelihood of finding one in the junkyard is. Aren't the 10.8" rotors already a huge leap forward from the drums?

Yeah, the 10.87 is a HUGE improvement over the drums!

I believe the most common place to find the larger adaptors are B-bodies after '76, and R-bodies.

Heck, if you've got all the 10.87 stuff ready to go, install it. You can always change up to the 11.75 stuff later with just a rotor and adaptor change.

If you come across adaptors that you aren't sure what rotors they work with, E'berg has some measurements in his disc brake article.

E'berg linky

So, the A-Body adapters work fine on his Coronet if we use the smaller brakes?

yes, '73-6 A, all F, all M and '73-5 B used 10.87 rotor and '76-up B and St. Regis type cars used 11.75 rotor.

Well, we have decided to take a look around to see if we can round up some of the big brake brackets. Might was well since it doesn't add much to the cost.

Cant find any on Moparts or eBay, and the junk yard here is closed weekends, but I'm sure we will find something somewhere.

I guess back then pretty much everything was an option, even on the supposedly top-tier muscle cars.

Its funny, because all of the ones (just 2 others) that I have seen in person have had drums...

Just did a quick search on the net to make sure that we arent crazy, and found a few others.
