I have a 1985 D-150 with the 30 gallon tank (which is a real joy to fill by the way with todays gas prices ) the small rubber section between the filler neck and the tank has a hole in it, Do I have to get a specific factory part for this or can I just use a section of radiator hose? Anybody else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Wrecking yard?
Even a longer part off another truck, and then cut the part out you need could work.

I've used heater hose on the vent tube.

I believe it is a molded curved hose that is no longer available. As suggested above, maybe out of a wrecking yard or even another vehicle that has a similar hose to cut down and fit. I think it is a 2" diameter hose if I remember right.

Weird you have a leak in it, its not something that commenly "wears out". But these trucks are growing older buy the day too.

Outcast Dodge guy.

NAPA used to carry hose for filler necks. It was heavy and fuel didnt affect it.Its been a few years since I replaced any.I dont know if they still have it and it came in different sizes.I had the same problem on my 84 Ram.Rocky

napa should still have filler hose, a rad hose in a pinch will work.

IIRC the groumet for the tube going into the tank can be had at the dealer.

I have a 30 on my stepside and and you are right, it sux to fill it up nowdays, even with the 19+ mpgs i get out of it.

but i like the fact when the gauge reads on the empty line it still has about 5 gals in the tank. the needle goes way down past the empty line like a reserve reading.

I bought a 12" section of the stuff from Napa a couple months ago for my B-van.

You could just cut out the section that is leaking and install a piece of metal pipe. Put a rad clamp at each end and your good 2 go.
