Oh
I had issues at the Mopower event this last weekend and I believe it's my BG 280 fuel pump. It was running out of fuel on the 2nd to 3rd shift, checked everything and came up with the fuel pump not supplying enough fuel. Checked filter it is clean, changed regulator because of pressure drops, etc. Bought the pump in 2003 I believe.
A fellow racer, Don Stahl, loaned me his spare BG 280 pump and it ran Good the rest of the weekend. Thanks to Don for the pump so we could keep racing.
Now what I am wondering is WHO if anybody rebuilds these pumps yet???
I tried a search and all I find is seal kits which mine doesn't leak a bit, still works for normal driving, it just won't keep up to race the car.

Any suggestions on someone that can check it out??
Thanks David

Hey David I am still half asleep but check out this site. The way I hear it the same guy designed most of these pumps and now owns one of these companies. If you can't find the info you need PM me and I will try on Yellowbullet.

John I called them today and they only will do the BG400 pumps.
Did give me an idea of whats wrong with my BG280, said it's a design flaw from the start, no parts available to fix it either, it wears out and lets the pump wobble and then it won't keep up with the demand.
Sounds like I need another source and or get a new pump.
Guess I will start the looking for a new pump.
Thanks John.

Barry Grant made it a very secretive product with VERY BAD customer service and that is a big reason the ship sank. Everything is fixable but you have to do the leg work necessary. I still have two of his BG400 pumps but will probably switch to Aeromotive in the future. I already changed out his fuel regulators that not only cost me a race but almost took a new engine out with it. Bad alcohol maintenance did the same thing to my sons aeromotive regulator but a simple phone call to their tech department and an hour of my time he was up and running again. It all starts and ends with customer service.

Demon carburetor owns that line now and is selling some service parts for them along with new pumps similar to the BG stuff but with some design flaws fixed.
BG. Had some good products but poor quality control and customer service. Now that Holley owns them it is changing for the better .

I called Allstate carbs, the e-bay link pattyboy posted, and they said if the motor is good yet they could rebuild the rest. 20.00 to check it out, 60.00 to reseal it, and if it needs a rebuild it would be 185.00
Very Nice person to talk with and ask questions to.

I may send it in to get it checked but I think in the long run a new brand and pump is probably the way to go. It could be a good backup pump to keep around though.

Thanks Everyone for the info and help. Much Appreciated.
David
