HI, on my 68 dart 318, 2 brrl.. it starts fine in cold weather, if i drive it without warming up,about mid range the carb seems to choke out..

the pull off is new,

after start up there is about 1/4 gap between the airhorn and the choke blade,

does that seem correct?

anyone know how to properly set on up.. the intake has also been removed and the carbon cleaned out of the crossover..

Well, the BBD is hardly a reliable carb, especially after 40 years! They make great fish habitat at the bottom of the lake!

But if you intend on getting it sorted out, look in any Chilton book for any mopar of that era and all the specs will be there.

Good luck!

my guess is that the heat riser valve is stuck and the heat crossover passages are totally plugged with carbon. so now you have no heat to the choke assembly. pretty common.

I converted my BBD over to the electric choke kit available from Carbsonly. Once installed and adjusted, it works great. I converted my Slant over to a Super-Six setup and didn't have the original choke actuation system, so I had no other choice. I'm glad I have this setup, because it works so well. I do have to make subtle changes depending on the time of year because it doesn't need as much choke in the summer as in the winter, but it takes 3 seconds. We have harsh climactic changes out here on the left coast as you know.

Here's a link with pictures of the unit. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12996&highlight=carter+choke+conversion
