A friend's wife has a 2003 Jeep (small SUV) with the 3.7. Sometimes it will not fire when trying to start it. It will turn over and the exhaust smells like unburned fule.
Let it sit for about 15 minutes and then it fires right up but the exhaust will still smell a little raw. What's happening with it?

You should be able to pull the codes from it. I had one recently that did that a few times and it was the cam sensor.

He is supposed to take it to the dealer sometime this week but I'd like to save him the expense if I knew what it was. I asked him about the check engine, if it came on when this started happening and he said the light has been on for about four years. I think I'm going to let him take it to the dealer.
