Car is a 69 GTX. Instrument panel was rebuilt by Redline.

I don't think I'm getting power to the instrument panel. Have no lights and none of the instruments work. Pulled the round plug from the back of the panel. Only getting power to one terminal from the orange wire, E2A-18, instrument lamp feed.

Power to the voltage limiter comes from the brake warning lamp which connects to wire G5 18DBL* voltage limiter, brake and oil warning feed. If I follow the lines correctly this wire begins (or terminates depending on which way your looking at it) at the ignition switch.

Last week a wire burned up (J2-16DBL*) due to a ground short. This wire goes from the ignition switch through the bulkhead to the voltage regulator. I simply ran another wire through the bulkhead to the voltage regulator and cut the burned up portion of the original wire out(this solved the no start problem).

It looks to me like wires J2 and G5 are somehow connected at the ignition switch. Is this why I'm not getting power to the instrument panel?

If everything was correct, should power to the instrument panel come from G5?

I think there is a Molex Connector down close to the steering column where your turn signal cam wiring goes as well as the ignition wiring. Mine is a 16 terminal connector. I don't remember if that was factory or just how I did it.

lights should come on with the headlight switch.
gauges only with the key on.

fuse in the fuse box is only for the lights as I recall.

ground is through the screws, so if you are testing it out of the panel, you might not get a complete circuit.

Copy thanks.
Got it figured out. Power enters the panel from two pins. They are located at the 12 O'clock and 6 O'clock positions. The bottom pin (blue wire with tracer) sends 12 volts to the voltage limiter. The top wire (orange) sends 12 volts to the instrument panel itself.
The bottom wire gets power from the ignition switch IGN terminal--the same wire that burned up on my car; thats why my guages would not work--no power. There is a factory splice somewhere that I missed.
