Those 360 heads have a larger size chamber resulting in lower compression, some higher compression pistons will help a lot.
I am truckless..

you will need the 8 dogbones and tin retainer with 3 bolts. either from the mag engine or the 90 core engine. I recomend pulling each lifter apart and clean them while you have them out. I have found most used roller lifters are dirty with grit/carbon build up. on some engines I have fix the ticking by a lifter service. they were pluged up solid. I do mine on the bench remove clip/cup/piston wash with brake clean, oil, put them back together. I dip the roller end in oil when droping them in the block. they pump up after fire up, rattle till all air is removed then no noise.

I will say yes, every 85 318 I have torn down was roller block.
heres some info when looking at swaping stock parts around
car 318 got roller cam, carb got long nose roller cam/mech FP-TBI got short nose cam,no mech FP
trucks got flat tappet,all 318 4-v got 360 heads/roller block/flat tappet cam.
early roller lifters do not oil thu PRs, used a short solid PR.
later model roller lifters have oil thru cup and hollow PRs.
on the later model pre-magnum engines such as a 1990 tbi 318,it will oil up thru the head to rocker shafts LA style, AND will be oiling thru lifters/hollow PRs to the rockers..both ways.
It does not seem to be too much oil in the head/VC. mine went from LA oiling to oiling both ways with no ill effects.
only thing I can think of is Ma Mopar was gearing up for the 92 magnum engine with oil thru lifters.
some early magnum blocks will be drilled to oil LA style but the magnum head/gasket block the oil hole.
the long and short nose pre-mag roller cam will be drilled for LA shaft oiling.
magnum engine roller cam will not be drilled for oiling
just match up the correct parts to get what you need from a magnum or pre-magnum

Allright I think I'm getting this sorted out, you are saying my 1998 magnum cam will not work in my 85 roller block with 360 heads because the cam is not drilled for the standard LA oiling? I need a cam from or designed for the pre magnum roller engines? If that's the case, I will just swap the complete magnum in, but my current exhaust manifolds were designed for an air injection system I believe, so they will not work, correct? Thanks for the help, info on this swap is difficult to find and contradictory at times.
this is correct. a 98 roller cam will not be drilled for LA oiling thru the head to rocker shafts.
the 85 manifolds should bolt up to the mag head. if the air injection tube is not used you will need to plug the holes in the end of the manifolds.
drill & tap for plug or cut the air injection tube to make short bolt on plugs, cut tube short to flange and fill with rtv/let cure.
you can also find LA manifold with out the air injection holes drilled.
the magnum manifold may work in the 85 truck. worth mocking up. I have not had a set in hand to do so. but 85 has a lot of romm in the frame.
I have a good pre-mag roller cam that is drilled but has a short nose if you need it.
