YYZ master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 7,327 Toronto (YYZ) Ontario	What are you looking to have done? A crankshaft? Or exhaust manifold, cylinder head etc.? A machine shop (especially one specializing in cranks) probably has the equipment for smaller, localized repairs. Otherwise there are some inexpensive kits that use your existing oxyacetylene setup with a specialized torch. Basically a cutting torch with a trigger to spray the powdered metal once you've heated the substrate sufficiently

As a Machinist in a roll shop we tried spray welding the worn bearing fits.(Undercut,spray weld, then grind to finish size) After the next 30 day inspection we discovered that it was chipping and breaking away. We went back to pre-heating, stick welding with Ni-Rod, and very SLOW cooling. Bearing in mind that this is just my experience with it and maybe others have better stories to tell. One more thing, no more than 0.030" thick if you try it. Good Luck! Rusty
