So I bought a new .590 mopar cam. I work at a dealership. so price was good. Now they don't come in the nice box like they use to and No longer have purple paint on them and do not come with cam break in lube. paper work says to use comp cams lube ? humm.. and they still come with 2 piece lifters. I don't like them.so I order new set of comp lifters. same parts number as I always got. they always been one piece. They came today. and they are now 2 piece ! . so I am thinking mopar has comp cams grinding these cams now ? you could no way tell the diff between these lifters.. not sure what I going to do now .here I set with 260.00 worth of lifters I don't like. I may have to use a set of them.

Last set of comp lifters I bought were real heavy. I sold them and got something lighter from my engine builder. Possibly might look at a lifter with a lube hole in the face of the lifter.

Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Yes the one piece comps are heavy but nothing to go wrong with them. have been very good to me over the years.

You have use the two piece lifters ? There has been problems with them in the past. Maybe they have them fixed now.

i'd throw that comp cam lube in the bin. i used it once, removed the inner spring for the run-in & lost one lobe totally & 2 others were looking sad. when i rang comp cams they said i must have been doing something wrong. yep sure was, i was using their run-in lube. repeated the operation with ARP assembly lube, messy stuff, but the cam run-in went perfectly. that comp cam lube when you rub it between your fingers n thumb dissappears real fast, hardly the hang-around for lubrication qualities that i was expecting. these days it's roller all the way, no more knackered cam lobes for me.

If I remember correctly there are two or three part numbers for Comp solid flat tappets . I can look them up for you if need be. I have used both styles with good success ,even with more aggressive lobes than the 590. I use Driven Joe Gibbs) assembly grease and break in oil.
Just pulled the one piece Comp lifters out of my old 440 today. I have well over 100 dyno pulls on them with Comps MM lobes and the cam and lifters are perfect.
Guys switch to rollers for safety but the extra expenses will buy a lot of good oil.

Vern,
I cant tell for sure by my catalog, but they show 821-16 and then a performance series,2921-16. States that it is designed for elevated spring pressure . One piece pushrod seat. Im pretty sure thats still a separate piece from the main body though.
Then a 2901 with an EDM hole. Then a 801-16 is a .904 that oils the pushrod. Guess they just changed the 821 at some point in time,I thought maybe I had used different numbered ones.
They also now offer three different tool steel .904 lifters.

Comp Cams definetly changed the vendor for the 821-16's. My old ones were very heavy one piece and the new ones i bought last month are a lighter two piece. I like the new...

I had Dwayne Porter grind my solid flat tappet cam in my 63 and we went with the EDM lifters which I bought the cam and lifters from Dwayne. The lifters came and were in a Comp box as they are EDM lifters with the small oil hole on the bottom and they looked like 2 piece lifters to me as they had a snap ring in the top of them and an oil hole in the ceter like they will work for pushrod oiling if you want. I did not use them that way as I use a solid pushrod and have stock rocker shaft oiling with my standard EZ heads. All has been fine as my 493 has been together and running good for 2 years. My cam is actually close to the .590 as it has .592 and .585 lift with 264 and 270 @ .050. But mine have been fine and all looked good when I adjusted the valves last summer. Ron
