I am trying to track down a master cylinder for my duster, I am looking for one of the late model (2 bolt) mopar master cylinders (5249271 or 5249270) and cant find much on them anymore. It looks like Summit and Jegs wont sell them and I cant find the listing Rick Ehrenberg from Mopar Action magazine had on here a while back.

Whats the deal? Can anyone help?

Your local auto parts store has access to plenty of them.

1978 D 100 manual disc, 1 and 1/8 bore
1988 Diplomat, 1 & 1/32 bore
1989 Dakota, 15/16 bore

Alot of "new" ones out there will be iron....most reman ones will be aluminum. Reman is fine if the job was done correctly.

Rockauto.com has some cool looking ones with a translucent reservoir instead of the usual black. I believe they're sold under the Dorman brand IIRC.

If they are not the aluminum mopar performance, I know how this is going to sound, can I still use the adapter block and adjustable pushrod from mopar (or mancini)?

Well I know for sure they work well with the AR engineering adapters that I sell, which I believe are identical to Mancinis, which are also the same as Mopar's, which are the same as Ehrenberg's so I guess the answer is a resounding yes

(Just trying to say nicely...Andy at AR makes the same part for everyone and their Grandma, and why not, there's none finer for the price )

On the pushrod, no problem....but in most cases the stock pushrod can be reused. I use the AR adapter, truck MC and the stock pushrod in my GTX. Works great.

Mopar isn't going to sell those master cylinders anymore, something went sour in the supply chain and they're gone from current catalogs...

I stock all that stuff:

New, black annodized aluminum master cylinders, billet 4-hole adapters, push rod retainers and super-duty heim joint style adjustable push rods.

E-mail me if you are interested.

I sent you a PM with Rick's email (propbaly no a good idea to post it in the open form).

I bought an MC and adapter from him a month or two ago, works great. He was great to deal with too.

I think he still has some.

It's just a couple of pounds but aluminum doesn't rust. I have the original aluminum MC in a 252K mile 15-year-old truck. The brake fluid collects water from the air and it collects in the low places and corrodes the cast iron. Then you have to hone or sleeve the iron MC. Aluminum solbves this problem, but if you want originality you have to hone or sleeve.
