Ya, it's up to 50 degrees now. Was 60 for a day or two.

Doesn't sound like it. That's why I live where I do, almost no snow, very seldom gets below 40F. Rains alot tho, but that's why they call it "The Evergreen State".

Nice looking but I'm getting fed up with the TTI rape. For years I have just figured that as they sold a few more, they would come down in price.
Have you priced a Plasma TV, a Notebook computer or any number of other tech products lately? Compare todays prices to those of 5 years ago.
TTI has been making great products for years, and I am glad that they are made here, but they really are just too dang expensive. Each time someone pays $700 for a set of headers, it VALIDATES that obscene price to the vendor. For my next header purchase, I am going to pay closer attention to other brands.

Yes, they do have some high prices, but if you looked around, they are the best ones for mopars around. Add to that they probably have to build sets to order and based locally, they probably are just making enough to keep in business. I would be very tempted the pull the trigger, but wonder if those would clear fast ratio pitman arms? I've noticed other similar quality headers around and their peices are like $400-$500. At least TTI offers diffrent coatings.

They look nice and are a bit longer than other shorties,but...I recall a dyno flog in a mag a few years back that showed shorties are only nominally better than the factory iron manifolds. Granted, the shorties they tried were Sanderson and not TTIs, but I found that surprising.

Yes, TTIs are nice, but I could never get over their price tag either. I don't mind pinging a few spots on some Hookers to save a few hundreed bucks.

maybe not.
but it looks like there are options if you order from down under.
for example
extractors for valiant v-8
IMO these are better looking design than the small block tri-y sold by Schum___r
But of course the odds of fitting a US A-body without modification is not so good so I took a pass on ordering them...

I'm getting closer to being able to get some extractors for the car, but I still have two things to get for the boat. Maybe in another year, or maybe the end of the summer.

If and when you do get them, it would be great if you could eyeball the up with a US car to see if they might work.

In the meantime I'm going to try these shorties. I've had to face the reality I don't have the time or space to do up custom headers. This ought to be a significant improvement for my setup.

The one test I'm familiar with was done by Mopar Muscle on 360 with hp peak at 4500
Crate Motor Exhaust Test

Even that engine had torque improvement as well as hp gain with the Hedman shorties. A higher reving engine, or higher flowing port situation should benefit more. My engine's hp peak is closer to 5500 rpm and could use a bit of help lower in the range too.

The main problem with U.S. and Aussie headers/extractors fitting each other's cars is the steering box. I doubt they would interchange.

One type of shorty headers I've thought about are the ones that both the right side and the left side dump right in the middle. Should/might clear both the starter and the steering box.

Re: steering box might be in the way
That's was my thinking too. Are the chassis's pretty similar? Maybe a more useful part for those with right hand drive Barracudas in the UK.

Re: Center dump shorties
Like the Hedmans? I think you'll have to modify them. At that point, is it worth it over doing a custom? Easier maybe if you're doing it all yourself.

They seem to be a little similar. The Aussie Charger uses the same inner fender and upper control arm as the A bodies. The steering arms, links and such are different, as are the lower control arms.

I'd really like to install a different K member with rack and pinion. I think that would be first before the extractors, as that type K member might take a different extractor/headers. Oz would know, but I'm not ready yet $$$ wise to even ask him.

I'm not a cheapskate, despite what I previously wrote. I have TTIs in the Charger and had a set on the Frankenduster. I'm not against free enterprise. I feel that a company is a business, not a charity as well. Despite all that, I still feel that the money that they spent on research and development of their products should have been paid for long ago. It is an insult to see them continue to price their stuff at 4 times the cost of Hedman, Hooker or the other cheap parts .

I agree with what your saying . When I was buying headers I looked around and went with headmans. Looking around on various Mopar forums I found some STILL had to hammer TTI's to fit. NO WAY was I spending that kind of money on something I still had to take a hammer to. I'd build my own before I'd spend that kind of money. I would have built my current set but I was in a hurry to get it on the road. At some point it will be a fun project when the car is put away for the winter.
