70 T/A 4 speed with a mallory high fire ignition box. Everything else is stock, except electronic dizzy that runs off the mallory box. So I turn the key to start it, it cranks, but will not fire. I turn the key to run and jump the solenoid and it fires instantly. It worked fine for a while and now this started doing this. I replaced the ignition switch and starter relay for shots and gaggles, I'm ready to short the whole dash and let it burn!!!!!! I'm tired of fighting with myself.
Thanks for the help!!!

Wire back in (temporarily) an orange box and see if it runs then...

do you have the mallory box BIG RED wire hooked up to Battery Positive?

Do you have the remaining wires going to the ballast resistor hooked up to the other red wire from the Mallory connector? Sounds like youre missing the start lead to the box.

Which Hyfire is this?

If your running a Ballast, change it and try it or temporarily run a jumper wire and see if it start's.

The Mallory ign box needs both "start" and "run" wired together or you will have the problem you are feeling.

Ballast has nothing to do with your problem. If it started and dies when you released the key it would be a possible ballast issue. Sounds like the ignition box trigger 12v is on the run position and not the start/run hot position. That is why you can jump start it off the relay with the key in the run position.

The ign1 (run) shuts off during cranking on ign2 (ballast bypass)
