nhra insider ran a series on the mickey thompson grand am funny, and that thing was so trick in the day and looked so primative now. the aero at 300 mph is so crucial that they would have to be dangerous. of course, that goes back to your point of slowing them down. personally, i would love to see it.
It may be ugly, but it sure is slow.

And I'm wondering why they haven't even updated the Charger body since 2010?? The last page of the current Car craft has a vintage shot of the 3 Don Schumacher 'Stardust' Cudas (yellow, red and blue) side by side. <sigh> Late 69 to around 74 was the golden age of funny cars, the most beautiful racing cars ever built IMHO.

I'm all for it, but the aero would have to be addressed; I would think a splitter on the front and a moderate wing on the back would work if power was reduced. Some time in a wind tunnel would be necessary, but they already do that whenever a new bodystyle is introduced. The ProMod cars are kinda goofy too, and would need a more separate identity if the FC bodies were toned down. I'd be OK if there was a single mag, single plug, reduced blower OD & nozzles, even. Then run 'em 1320' like God intended. And while we're at it, bring back MP. I also have thoughts on the Super & Comp stuff, but I'm already steering OT, haha!

More then likely NHRA will monkey see monkey do and make the mfgs redesign the FC bodies so they resemble the factory cars.
Just like NASCAR did.
