So it appears that Eagle has discontinued their 6.700" connecting rod with the Chrysler width (1.007" BE)

Of the various companies that make a 6.700" big block Chevy rod (2.200 big end, .990 pin) - which ones have the widest bottom ends?

Though one is led to believe that large side clearances at the rods are not a big deal, psychologically I'd prefer to keep them a bit tighter and not add .020" if I have to.

Thanks in advance

We built an engine that made over 700hp wit hthe eagle BBC spec big end , it didn't seem to be an issue .

I'm using K1's , I don't remember the big end width though .

Any effect on oil pressure at idle, having the narrower rod ends?

"had" being the operative word here. they "had" a 6.765 long, chrysler width sportsmaster with the .990" pin but discontinued them some time ago. to make matters worse they discontinued the bb chevy sportsmaster rod as well. now afaik the only choices from manley for a 6.7 rod would be the imported chevy H beam or the pro series I beam both of which will have the chevy width

i don't know that they ever had a 6.7 long rod with the chrysler width

if someone knows different please feel free to correct me

Eagle had a 6.700 rod with 2.200/.990 CRS6700C3D but it was discontinued 2 years ago.

That doesn't stop some places from showing stock, or continuing to list them on eBay

afaik you're not going to find 6.7 long, 2.2 throw chrysler width rods from anyone. i "think" eagle has a 6.76 long rod with the other dimensions you mentioned. if you're asking about who has the widest chevy width rod i wouldn't bother as now you're into manufacturing tolerances.

i'd say if you need a 6.7, 2.2, .990 pin rod you have two choices either custom rods to get a wider BE or chevy rods with the standard .990 BE width. there are plenty of engines out there with a lot of side clearance and no one likes it but i can't remember anyone having real issues doing it. as for oil control imho the bearing clearances are what primarily dictate that, of course pressure and viscosity come into play as well.

None at all I've run motors with .026 rod side clearances with .0033 bearing clearances and ran a different motor with the same bearing clearances, oil pump and oil pressure with rods that had .050 side clearances, no noticeable diffirences on the street or at the track The bearing clearances and oil pump along with the heat and viscotity(SP?) of the oil deteremines the oil pressure and volume of oil flowed through the motor, not just the rod side clearances I use to worry about the wide side clearances until I saw more motors hurt with to tight(less than .010) rod side clearances than those with way to much side clearances, above .028

not that I could tell, the block had modified oil passages , opened up to create more flow to crank and we ran both a hi volume and a stock pump that was ported by member streetwise and it had a milodon adjustable regulator and the motor had more than enough oil pressure. Oil pressure escaping is regulated more by the bearing clearance and less by the width of the bearing shell itself .... I think ???

There are thousands of engines running with BBC width rods ...

There are others selling this type of rod for similar money . Contact member Performance_only , he'll get you a set of GOOD rods for not a lot of money.

I asked a similar question a few months ago. I'm not aware of anyone selling a 6.700 long rod with the 2.2 journals and the Mopar width.

It would be great if Performance Only had some available. Eagle still makes the 6.76 length rod with the 2.2 journal and 1.007 width but they were on back order a couple of months ago. Molnar is also making a 6.76, 6.86 and 7.1 rod with the 2.2 journal and 1.007 width.

Molnar was the owner of K1 , went on his own after things went in the wrong direction after he sold the company . This is the rod I would be buying .

Cool - thanks for the advice. Part of the search is because I have a beautiful 3.9 stroke American-made MP crank, fully indexed and the 6.700" rods will be perfect for a zero-deck motor with my pistons (and block correction)

I just received a set of the Molnar 6.7 rods yesterday for use with a 3.9 stroke crank. I already had pistons when I found out that Eagle had stopped making the 6.7 rod with the Mopar big end. Lots of places still list them on line as they haven't updated their web sites in a long time.
