Hi guys, hope you can help me -

My friend just bought a new 2013 Challenger with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 (build date January 2013). He wants to switch to synthetic oil in the near future & had some questions:

* The owner's manual states the Pentastar V6 takes 5W20 oil, but the oil cap says "0W20". Which grade oil should be use?

* When should he switch to synthetic oil? The car currently has 300 km on the odometer.

* What do you guys recommend for synthetic oil for the Pentastar V6. My friend was leaning towards Pennzoil synthetic.

5W20 is correct for 2013 3.6 engine.I suspect it has the wrong cap on it.
Pennzoil is Mopar's vendor for synthetic oil.

I'd keep the original oil in it until it's first scheduled oil change, which is at 6mo/8k miles, IIRC

I wouldnt run Penzoil in my lawn mower.I run either Castrol or Valvoline.In the Harleys I run Kendall GT1 race oil.Rocky

Either weight should be fine; they are both the same viscosity (20 wt) at operating temp. The 0W20 will flow better at startup, especially in cold temps. Any 0W20 will be at least a Grp III.
