How many of you guys own or race and Modern Muscle Car..aka New Challenger,Mustang,Camaro,Viper etc?and how do you like them?
I own a 2010 Plum Crazy Purple SRT8 Challenger 6-speed that has Mopar CAI,Corsa Exhaust,180 stat, and Predator tune that has a whopping 2900 miles on it and have never raced it but it is alot of fun to drive and gets looks and comments everywhere it goes.
I have a 2014 Shelby GT500 on order that I plan to mod before it leaves the Dealership.you can spend little money on these cars and get crazy power out of them.I wanted to get something that was alittle out of my comfort zone and learn something new.me being a Chrysler Service Technician so a Supercharged 662hp Mustang should do that!

How can you race a fly by wire throttle car? The delay on the throttle is insane...Not to mention, the body styles, and unreal weights of newer cars is just not even remotely worth it. Why would I want to start out with a 3900lb Challnger, when I can buy old muscle already set-up and way lighter for half the cost?
I have to disagree with that, my wife's 300c has instant throttle response and power to spare not to mention the best riding car I have ever driven. don't get me wrong I love old muscle but these new are cars are awesome

Lets see some time slips then. What do get for a RT? I am sure they drive nice. Rented a V6 Challenger last year, drove nice. But the throttle delay from input to actual response is horrible. Took a while to get used to it. I hate fly by wire...

Chris my pops has a srt300 06 version, very fun car and quit stout for 4000lb as it has been 12 teens. It is not consistant though and alot has to do with the 06 trans and all the modes for safety it has.The new ones have a feature the 06 doesnt and it will shift it self.As for throttle response it kinda is super super sensative and almost visciouse sometimes, just touch it a tiny bit and wow.It has a pro charger 5Lbs of boost and stainless works headers on it and we drive to atco alot with it and thats 106 mile trip 1 way. Good luck

Alot of the throttle delay is from the computer learning how "you" drive.
If you granny the car and don't mash the go pedal the computer gets used to your driving habits and the delay gets more noticable.
You can get a hand held tuner and that can take care of the lag issue or just disconneted the battery to reset the computer and it also should get you better results until it relearns the drivers habits

A bone stock 392 Challenger with auto trans will run 12.70's.you can get them to run low 12's with basic stuff. The Sticks are all over the place.
These new Mustangs are running in the 9 sec range with slicks.its pretty easy to get one in the 10.50's with basic bolt ons and Drag Radials.

I'm a Mopar Guy and I looked at the New Challenger RT, and Camaro SS But ended up buying a 2013 Mustang GT 6 Speed, still only has 1350 miles on it, also looked at the Boss Mustang, but I couldn't delete the huge stripes and didn't like 10k+ additional over the GT. on mine there is zero lag with the fly by wire throttle I just liked the size of the car and handling and the all aluminum 4 valve 420 hp Coyote engine, biggest complaint is the shifter needs to be replaced. the stock shifter really needs finesse to make the 2-3 shift, also the car is just too quiet needs some exhaust changes, tons of aftermarket parts available. my Dakota project is on hold because of this new toy.

I drove a used 2013 Boss Mustang with 900 miles on it and it was a ton of fun! If any of you guys get a chance to drive a Boss,Shelby or even a new 5.0 do it.
The Challenger is all around a nicer everday car.more room ton of trunk space nice ride and much better interior features.

I've raced my 2009 RT several time now best time is listed in signature. Whats fun is you can leave the track for food and return and race some more.

My '10 R/T. M6, 3.73's. Best of 13.78 @102.87. Still learning to launch it. Made about 15 passes in it last year. Street tires aired down to 25 pounds and took the air filter out. Car is my daily driver and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Bought a Diablosport tuner in December but obviously no input on if it helps. Colder t-stat and drop in filter for upgrades this summer. Probably some appearance and stance tweaks first. Challengertalk has some guys on there nipping at the 11's in stock 392's on street tires ( A5 trans.)

The drive by wire throttle delay on the late models definitely make consistent launches difficult to say the least. I raced my brothers completely stock 2010 Challenger R/T (Hemi, auto) in the Street class at Monster Mopar Indy last fall the best run it did was a 13.62 at 102 mph. I made it to the Qtr finals before getting eliminated. The car ran about a half second off the dial in on the last run. I'm not sure why (wheel spin or what) but it the car ran about a half second off the dial in on the last run (But the mph was still 101). Ahh well, I thought I did pretty well for a car I hadn't driven before driving it up to Indy. I drove it there, raced and then dove it home which was fun and simple. A pic of my brother and his Challenger.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Bought my wife a SRT8 Jeep and did it up with all the usual bolt on (cold air, headers, exhaust, throttle body, programmer). Fun car to drive all year round even when it is snowing up here.

I bought an 03 Cobra a few yrs ago. A "few" boltons and it has 615hp at the tire. Fun car.
^This car is one of the best foundations to start with for a modern fast car. The only downside is the independent rear for drag racing!
That sums it up perfectly. I am THOUROUGHLY ENJOYING my 03 Cobra ownership and wish I had bought it sooner- the most fun I've had in years with a car. No matter what brand you drive, it's hard to beat the newer stuff. Daty- your Chally looks perfect lowered- very nice car

Would pulling the #2 fuse do the same thing as disconnecting the battery? It clears the PCM. Curious if your car is a M6 or A5. Do you run with traction control on or off?
