I am in the middle ( or somewhere in there,,,) of resto on my 70 RR. 383 4sp. I am assuming it is suppose to have colum interlock... but it seems to be missing from my boxes of parts.. I have read they are often removed...?

1st.... what is the funtion and do I need it...

Looks like I can get the complete kit for about $250....

What is it's function: It does not allow the key to be removed from the ignition switch until the transmission is selected to Reverse.
Do I need it: That depends on your level of restoration.

Most people took them off when the car was relativly new. They are a pain in the butt. 1970 A230 3 speed manual transmissions are easier to deal with then the A833 4 speed reverse.
That being said, if your restoration is a complete original restoration, then you should use it.

I have it installed on both of my manual shift 1970 `cudas.

The 3 speed, works as it should.
The 4 speed, I have it partially disconnected.

I say install it. If you decide that you don't like the application, just disconnect the steering column to torque shaft section.
