The bolts should return to original length unless you over stretched them.

This was why I was concerned that the bolts were different lengths. They were that way when they came from NASCAR and they should have done them by the book better than us.

ARP says to mesure the free length for each bolt and record them on all of thier rod bolts before using them, then stretch them three times(on the set I read these instructions on) and then install them. they say to throw them away if the free length gets stretch more than .0010 The Olivar rods I had the trouble with the bolts where not all the same lenghts new either

Kinda hard to know the free length on used rod bolts/rods.

I would have liked to have had brand new stuff. But, don't know until I run this engine if it is even what I want or need.
