No,break it in as you would any other cam.I always use the Mopar cam lube and I coat the cam with STP while I'm putting on the intake before firing the engine.

Put a dab of white engine enamel paint on each lifter top-edge .. to EZ check for lifter rotation.

Be Careful. I installed that same cam a couple years ago and wiped number 2 intake lobe after bout an hour. Did the half hour at over 2000rpm thing. It appeared lifter was spinning too as the bottom of the lifter was a perfect bowl shape. Was using MP pre lube and Rotela oil with a full bottle of Redine Zinc additive. My bad, shoulda got better Oil. Went roller after that. If I did again, I would use a purpose made break in oil. The car was a blast to drive and sounded great with that .557 cam for the half hour I got to drive it. Had 509 before too... Also had a buddy in Boise who installed an MP cam in a small block and ran regular oil with no additive. It wiped every lobe. It was a mess. He didn't know about the change in the oil. He sure does now.

If you are using double valve springs I would suggest removing the inner spring and just use the outer to break the cam in then reinstall the inner springs before you beat on it.

yes sir i delt with the same thing on a 509 couple years ago. wiped two lobes in about 15 miles after break in. think they were having issues with the purple shaft's awhile ago cause i called jegs and told them what had happened and they sent me a new one free of charge. next one worked out just fine same break in go figure

Always add at least 2 extra quarts to your break in oil. The crank will pick up the extra oil and lube the cam from underneath where it needs it.

I have never wiped a lobe on a flat tappet cam in my life, I have never added any special oils or lubes and I only used Mobil 1. I've seen lots of posts on here about wiped lobes, I don't know, I've even installed the same cam and lifters in 3 different blocks and haven't had a problem.

The last MP .557 cam I broke in was in 2006 and all went great. I did not even pull the inner springs either. I use Valvoline racing oil and plenty of cam break-in-Lube. No problems at all. In June 2011 I broke in the flat tappet in my 63's eng which is 264 and 270 @ .050 with .588 and .592 lift. For this cam I removed the inner springs and used the same Valvoline racing oil with the cam lube and a bottle of ZINC additive. Again no problems at all as its still in the car. Ron

IT MUST BE because of this good Florida weather ...

And here is a clip with the old hydro stick- comp xtreme energy hi-lift 275/.525 cam. The .05 on that cam was split in the high 230s with a touch more exhaust duration.
http://youtu.be/iyU83fpak4A

The MP stick is way softer below 3k, more like an emmissions 318, which makes it more fun to rev up. The comp cam was actually noisier and came on strong at 2200 which was annoying with a stickshift- you either had to launch the car or let out the clutch slow or it would jerk hard when it got up on the cam. An auto with a 2500 stall would have loved that cam.

I changed the cam because the #2 intake lifter would not pump up anymore and I like playing with engines.
