I've gone back through the list of toys over my 33+ yrs of driving Mopars, I've never owned a Demon. They're far less common than Dusters, are they worth more (or cost more to restore) because of that or are they pretty much a wash? I remember buddy's of mine that got so tired of people calling it a Duster he didn't even bother to correct people after a while. I prefer the 72 nose, I always preferred the horizontal divided bumpers to vertical but I like the 71 side markers. Just thinking out loud at this point... I'd like a nice mild 430" small block that drives like a 440 six pack without all the wieght up front....no more BB A bodies for me I think...though I do miss my 451 duster sometimes. what would a decent bodied 318 auto driver cost...assuming I could find one? Always though a duster/demon with a 69 Dart front fenders and grille would be cool and different

When I lived in South Carolina in the mid 80's I saw a 67 Dart coming at me in the other lane, as it passed I saw a 74 Dart Sport!  I finally talked to the guy a couple months later and he had an accident with his Dart Sport and could only find a 67 Dart to get the front end off of!  Looked pretty good! 
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

I've seen a Duster with a '67 Valiant front end on it. I really liked it. It looked better than both an original Duster or Valiant.
It was posted on Moparts but I can't find a picture of it now.

Demon generally are worth a little more than dusters at least the 71's. I would take a ride in a nicely set up one and i think you will be hooked!! Mine runs low 12's with a 360, home ported J's, and a small solid, 3.91's. Has poly suspension parts, KYB's, super stock springs, handles nice and tight, rides better than any b or e body I've been in. Good luck!

No motor No trans, no interior except buckets and dash. 8 3/4 rear. Very straight only bondo very light in the rear quarters,good floorboards, relpaced spare tire well. Orginally a green slanty...NOT a 340 Prowler purple (NOT Plum crazy  ) but old paint and needs re-shooting. I want it but (by all rationale or logic) don't need it...I really need a early-mid 70's (pre Cat-con) D100 What's it worth?

i'm a big block believer... with aluminum heads/intake they weigh the same as the original all-iron 340's. and for a small block to get the same power as a 440, 451, 470, 500 etc you need to spin a lot more rpms, have more converter, etc. basically you put a lot more stress on the bottom end for the same results. not only that, BB aluminum heads flow better out of the box than big dollar ported SB heads.

I agree with you as you are right. I am a bigblock guy myself but I am very impressed at how well the smallblock strokers run and figure either one the big or smallblock should work good in an A-body. Ron

Having a new set of heads like the Airwolf 220 small block heads I think greatly dimishes the "need" to do a big block A body, you basically have an affordable small block head that flows comparable to a mildly well ported Edelbrock, so that to my thinking means a 416 small block should have very comparable power to weight performance to a 449-451 inch big block of comparable head flow.
For anybody who has not driven a mild high torque moderate rpm stroker small block torque motor, it drives as well or better than a comparable or slightly higher cube big block. Torque is cubes, power is the heads but power to weight ratios when equal in terms of torque curves almost always favor the lighter of the 2 combinations in terms of overall driving satisfaction. Plus regardless of p/w a lighter car reacts more predictably and stops quicker.

another option people are yakkin about...
you take a 318, preferably one of the older truck versions with a forged crank. you get a cheap ebay GT45 turbo that just happens to be the right size for a 318 about $250. grab some 2.02 heads, compression can be 8:1 or so, dont matter. should not be higher. you use truck exhaust manifolds turned around backwards. a little bit of fab work. you can use an E85 blow thru carb for some detonation resistance. some sort of intercooler & misc hardware. run 8lbs of boost. quick/cheap 500-600hp lol.
