I'm in the middle of rebuilding my AFB's off a 1970 Hemi and noticed that the Hot Idle compensator is not working. Does anyone know if anyone sells these or if I really need to replace it. I know the functionally of the part just not sure if it really makes a huge difference in drivability?

thanks
Paul

How did you determine it was not working?

I'm thinking if it is cold it should be closed/sealed? When I heat it up I do not see any movement in the metal parts?

They are not available that I am aware and most originals have been ruined by either time/age or repeated media blasting during rebuilds. They are just a controlled vacuum leak and there is an easy fix, simply plug the hole underneath with a lead plug and leave the old one in place for decoration (visiual accuracey). A bad one is often the cause of an erratic idle, a plugged one will be fine, you won't even miss it.
