I have a 904 with a forward manual valve body. Need a recommendation as to what is the most user friendly shifter? The car will see a good bit of everyday street action. Thanks

Check out a B & M Pro Ratchet. Ratchets in either direction. Works great in my racer, I would buy one for the street if I needed one.

I use a B&M Quicksilver, and love it. Detent shifter through P-R-N; ratchet both ways from there with a lift gate @ R.

Had one of those in my first '70 Dart. Was a good shifter. Very user friendly.

That makes three of us. It was pretty inexpensive, has taken a lot of abuse and has never let me down.

I had a pro ratchet in my daily driven dart for a few years, what a pain in the _ _ _ ! Never again. Get a 1/4 stick or one of the other shifters recommended.

I believe the Hurst Pro-Matic and the B&M Quicksilver are pretty similar in both appearance and operation.

I'm still using my stock factory shifter. It's been working fine for the past 46 years, and I see no reason to change it now.

Yep- I like mine. Make sure you have a good run for the cable where it can't het into the headers and you won't have any problems. I run it regular a lot or push down in N and pull back for ratcheting to have some fun. Slap back twice more and you're ready to run 1st up the revs and churp second and maybe third!

X2.... best shifter i have ever used. very smooth operating and the cable wraps around the rear of the trans so it doesn't clutter everything up and burn on the headers. won't ever use any of the other junk out there again.

It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I got a new hurst pro-matic for a truck and it is nothing but junk. cant get the cable right,it has about a 1/4" of slop in the cable.

I can get it to shift up or down but not both. wont line up the detents up no matter what or how you adjust the cable.

i have vis-grips clamped on the end of the cable to "feel" the detents and get a better shift.

it is coming out and going in the trash can.

I do not recomend one thats for sure.

I rather have the stock mech linkage than to have to adjust on this hurst crap shift one more time.

So just because you can`t figure yours out or maybe it has a problem doesn`t mean the suck. Mine`s probably 13 years old and works flawlessly...........

The shifter worked exactly how it should, that wasn't an issue. My main qualm is there is no quick way to get from the most rearward position to reverse or park if needed. There are situations in which I thought this was a hindrance. Your results may vary, 95% of the time it was fine.

I have the B&M Pro Ratchet in my Coronet cruiser. Works perfect and is easy to use. I love it. I've had a QuckSilver before too. Really nice shifter for racing or street cruising.

I only run Pro Ratchets, I tried a 1/4 Stick once and hated grabbing the lever to go to 3rd.

I have had a B&M Pro in my last three cars, and installed several more for friends. Can't miss a gear.

Won a $1200 race when my opponent went 1st to 3rd with his Turbo-Action shifter. I rarely find a Turbo Action owner that won't admit they have gone 1st to 3rd at least once. Thats enough to convince me not to buy one.

Here is a pic of the new Pro Ratchet I have on the shelf now for my next project.

That looks nice, my next car will have that!

I tried a Cheetah once also, went from 1st to 3rd way to easily. Never any problems with the Pro Ratchet.
I like the looks of the PPP precision shifter but I just don't care for messing with a lever to pull 3rd.
