I put another 20 or 30 miles on it yesterday. Took all 5 of us to the Father's Day car show in my hometown. Didn't enter it, but looked around. The car loads up after being hot and sitting for a bit. The tires rub the top of the wheel house when there are three in the back seat and it sees a significant bump. It needs a lot of tuning and upgrades. I'll start today.

I thought about that. I was just going to put Super Stocks on it, since it needs a new set, anyway. But I thought about adding a spring or two if I can find someone with an old set they are going to throw out.

I think i mentioned it earlier, that's what we did with mine. It only had four leaves one each side, and sat low like a E Body/ We added another main and a couple shorter ones. rides a little stiff on bad roads, but i love the look and no rubbing, even on uneave surfaces.

I'll have to call the latter. Eaton Spring prices are high enough I could buy 2 sets of Super Stocks with the front hangers. If I had that green right now I'd put Cal-Tracs on it!
Thank you for the help.

It looks like the Beest won't make it to Carlisle, after all. It isn't ready for the trip, and the truck needs tires.

Not sure who keeps bumping this up, but here's an update.
When I lost the u-joint, it cause more damage than I thought. I got under the car to adjust the clutch and the tie rod ends to make a trip to the Nats. I found this.
From the inspection cover bolt hole all the way up to the release for hole.

Front bearing retainer. You can't tell really clearly, but it's cracked.

I decided to just give it a rest for this summer. I have some plans, which include a Lakewood bellhousing, a new driveshaft, a 3.55 gear, a bit of porting to the heads, a new M-1 intake, and to get the power steering pump and box rebuilt. Of course I am still doing the front end and torsion bars in that list.
I'm undecided if I am going to get a brand new center chunk and new axles, or just bite the bullet and buy a Dr. Diff Dana 60.
I'm going to drive it a lot next summer (I hope) and also beat on it. I'm leaning towards a Dana. That way it is as upgraded as I need it when I go to a 440.(Which is after I wring every last HP out of the 383.)

I was going to sell my GTS to get some things done on the Bee. But lack of interest from others and having it home to boost the interest by me, I may not.
I took some pics of both of my rides together for the first time ever.

Crap Darin, it's always something(s). The offer is still open if you want to use my MP porting templates. PM an address and I'll get 'em to ya.

Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

Good that you found it before you hit the road. I had a bellhousing crack in two radially once and the pistol grip about beat me silly before I could get stopped.

Seriously, imagine what would have happened if the trans had dropped down. Yikes.

Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised
