Thinking about using some afco rear spring sliders with my caltrac mono leaf setup along with some new DA Shocks..Anybody out there have any results inc, gains/losses in 60' times they would like to share after using sliders? Thanks

I assume your talking the slider at the rear instead of shackles .... I like them and have put them on cars with springs... I cant say how they would change anything on a caltrac set up... all that work is done in front of the axle... the portion behind the axle is the ride rate.... but they slide nice and smooth but I would suggest to spray them once in a while to keep them clean

Yes Mike I am talking about the rear of the spring. Trying to understand if there is any benefit in reducing/controlling the rise in the chassis created by the arc in the shackle swinging down on the hit. I understand Calvert is now recommending sliders with mono leafs. Thanks

The shackle in itself doesnt do anything... per say BUT the rubber does bind up then snap free but its usually such a small amount it doesnt upset the chassis but the sliders are smoother... will you see a gain... I really doubt it but they do lower the back end and THAT might help in transfer

mr p : dose this sound like a good idea
I dont do it that way... if you want some added weight raise the opposite T-bar... since they are wider than the frame I weld a piece of steel on the frame so they dont hang over and weld them directly to the frame

I would say any time you can gain adjustability it is a good thing. bolting your slider would not be much more work and give you some options. then you would have 4 corner adjust.
If you want... to me its just another thing that can go wrong..... JMO... your the only guy I heard of that bolts them on... but if it works for you keep doing it

I've read of more guys bolting them on then guys welding them on.
Also, what are you guys using to lube them? Just your run of the mill wheel grease, oil, or???
Like I said "I" havent seen anyone bolt them on... maybe if someone doesnt have a welder they would bolt them on.... the ones I have put on are welded... I use a spray white grease

Just stating what I have read and heard is all Mine are welded on also...it was suggested to me that I bolt them on for the same reasons that whitedart mentioned, but I felt more comfortable welding them.
Thanks for the info on the grease also!

I would say more important than trying to lube the sealed bearings.. is to keep it clean the rubber and rocks will build up .. one of the things that I like the most about this set up is less side to side movement..john calvert will tell you for a trans brake set up run a bunch of shock so you wont see much movement at the slider. my set up will move less than 1/2 inch on a pass
