Hi guys. Been away for awhile. Some may remember, I had some bad luck on the dyno a few years back. I really don"t want to re-live that, so I'll bring you up to date on what I have now. It's a Mopar Perf cast block, Callies 4.75 crank, Carrilo 7.100 steel rods, Diamound 4.503 flat top pistons. Fred Brewer heads, T&D 1.75 rockers, Isky cam that comes out to 8.75 lift. Jessel belt drive, hand made sheet metal intake, two 8 yr old Pro Stock Holleys. Last year it dyno'd at 1109 hp & 810 tq. This year we made a few changes & here are the results..
1st pull, 1128 hp at 6900 & 872 tq at 5900. Was rich with 96 jets, so went down to 94s
2nd pull, 1143 hp at 6900 & 879 tq. Droped the 15w40 Delvac oil & put in 10w30 Brad Penn
3rd pull, 1152 hp at 7000 & 880 tq. Was using C116 vp. Wanted to try 114+
4th pull, 1149 hp at 6900 870 tq. Didn't like the fuel. So we tried some Q116
5th pull, 1147 hp & 869 tq. showed very lean. Went up to 96 jets again
6th pull, 1175 hp & 877 tq. still showed alittle lean. only had 99 jets, so we put those in.
7th pull, 1169 hp & 879 tq. The o2 was real close there, & the power curve was real smooth.
So, all & all I was real happy to say the least. It runs great & I cant wait till summer comes. Hope I didn't bore you to death?
thanks, Vern!!!

Im nowhere near your league- sounds like a ton of cubic dollars! I still enjoyed hearing your step by step dyno tune. With that much $ invested were you a-b-a ing all the changes to verify that no other factors were involved?

Congrats on your sweet motor. I've built and beaten a couple 4 3/4" stroke harley motors into the ground- they last a good while (apples to oranges!) I hope yours lasts a good long while for ya.

What kind of feeding does a motor like that need? Regular valvespring changes?

Vern, Not boring here! Glad to see the great results. Those heads flat work! How much bearing clearance are you running ? I might try that 10w 30 BP. Can't wait to see it run

I just put new springs in this year. The old ones were used for two seasons. We check them & they were all down 15-24 lbs. Some say thats not bad, but I changed them anyway. I think the overhead oilers make them last longer.
Greg, I brought the block & crank up to Lance & he set all the bearing clearance & honed the block for me.

iirc that dyno video was pretty ugly, still makes me queasy if it's the one i'm thinking of.

imho it's a shame those brewer heads aren't being produced on the market at a decent price point they work well and are one of the better designs ever offered for the bb chrysler 2¢

You're right about the heads. I had some problems with them at first, but we got them ironed out. They are worth the effort I put in to them. My friend, who has the dyno bought a Superflow flow bench, & he flowed the heads for me in November. He did some tweeking on them & got me 10.8 more cfm on the intakes & 5.1 more cfm on the ex. That may have had alittle to do with the increase in power. Also I didn't have those carbs last year either. I don't run a vaccuum pump either.

Good #'s. its similar to my 604. I'm waiting for mine to hit the dyno. I'll be interested to see the difference.

Awesome, do you have any flow numbers on the heads? Thanks

His heads prolly don't support 8.75 lift

To the OP glad you got on the right track now! Props to you!

According to other racers that have used the Q16 you do need to jet it up 4 or 5 size larger on Holley jets to make the most power I like to jet the motor up, on the dyno or at the track, until it slows down the MPH in the 1/4 and the go the other way until it slows down, that tells me what that motor and carb. wants on the jetting that day I ran into a problem on my carbs, both Dominators and 850 DP, the dang .110 needles and seats weren't big enough on straight pump gasoline What size are you using on your carb? BTW, I had a Holley 1150 CFM carb. converted to E85 and it has .150 stainless needles and seats in it I was able to jet it up rich on the dyno using the local pumpp E85, it tested out to be E75, not E85 I had to jet that carb. down three sizes on all four jets to get max power and torque.

Ok, here's the numbers on the heads. I know all flow benches are different, these numbers are from a Superflow. All numbers are at .900 lift.
before #s intake 449.1 after 459.9
before #s ex 338.9 after 343.8
I also made a 1" spacer plate that go's between the head & header as per Fred Brewer.
Cab, dont know what size needle & seats are. All I did was take out the 119 Max jets & put in 96 for starters. Had to drop float level a little bit. These carbs respond so much quicker than the 1050 Holleys I ran last year.

Greg, I scanned the dyno sheets, but they won't go though. Says they're to big. Don't know how to make smaller. If you know of a way, let me know. Thanks

There are tons of programs available to resize pictures for posting on the web.
I normally use MicroSoft Office Picture Manager, but even MircoSoft Paint can resize using the top tool bar "Image" then "Resize".

"no bigger than 1048576 bytes please"

But it might be just as easy to use the optional settings on your scanner to make a smaller file. Like 100 pixel per inch (PPI) instead of 200, etc.
