Mine lasted 10 passes. I have not done an autopsy on it yet but I think I might already know the root cause. I may yank it out this Sunday.

Mike my 408 is pretty basic, 72 360 block, .030 over with Diamond -22cc dish pistons, 10.9-1, tbe rotating assembly is balanced, K-1 4" crank, Comp Star rods, Hughes 260/264 @ .050 flat solid with .628/.633 lift with Hughes 1.6 roller rockers and Hughes EDM lifters. The heads are closed chamber Edelbrocks milled to 55cc, ported by Curtis Bogg and freshened by Ryan J. The intake is a Victor that I deep port matched and has a Biggs 950 HP on it.

I know I left some HP on the table by not using a roller cam, but so far this has been a great little engine. The only thing I do to it is run the valves once a year and change the oil. On 325 radials and 4.10 gears it's been 6.57 in the 1/8 with a 1.38 60' and will go high 6.60s with 1.40-1 60' in the heat in street trim on pump 93. It weighs 3260 with me in it

Ive talked to Dan at Performance Only and he said he would be using the same crank, rods and pistons for mine. I will probably be using everything else in my motor now. Ultradyne solid roller .556/.556 .285/.295 dur and .249/.259@50, My J-heads have 2.02/1.60, 1.6 Crane Gold roller rockers(which made the cam lift .570ish which was measured),they flowed 284@530...M-1 port matched with a holley 850dp.

Im hoping the 360" runs low 11's and the 410" runs mid 10's on pump gas.
