I am thinking about taking advantage of the 10% off sale at summit! If I do I am thinking that I want to buy a set of ladder bars! What length do I need or go to? Would this be a good transformation over a snubber?

30-32"

You literally cannot compare a snubber to a ladder bar.

Ladder bars are vastly superior to a snubber in every way. I would get the longest ones possible that will fit your application.

I like and use the 1/4 Max brand 34 inch long set up with the curved upper bar to clear the floor regardless of which brand and length you select make sure it has the adjustable link on the bottom and switch to coil over rear suspension If your going to leave the leaf springs on instead of using coil overs make sure and buy a slider or floater set up for your rear end housing

Myself I would go with the 36" bars... its more leverage
but either way you go you better buy good shocks with
the bars(I'm talking a good adjustable shock)...
but if your main hoop is farther back then the shorter
bars will work but with less leverage

What determines the length of the ladder bars for the car? It's a 1963 plymouth valiant.

The distance from the rear end housing to the crossmember that you install.

Ladder bars are not going to be a simple project you know. From looking at your car you may be better off saving up your money and back halfing it with either ladder bars or my choice a 4 link. That way you can narrow the rear and tuck even larger tires into the wheel wells.

But it is the snow ball effect and one thing just leads to another...

I was a little dissapionted in summits options for ladder bars. They dont offer a much in the way of kits IMO I went to jegs and used thier starter kit info and had to piece together mine to get the discount. I wound up going with the c2005 ladder bars and adding all the parts to get it complete. I think it a 32" 0r 33" ladder bars and they are double adjustabls.

Think of ladder bars as a fixed four-link system. What you want is the upper & lower bars intersecting through an imaginary point as close to the center of the car as possible. Why? Too far forward & you exert too much leverage to plant the rear. Too far back & you're not exerting enough leverage to plant the tires fully. Now there IS some adjustment with them to allow for conditions, but generally that's how it works (I was taught). Now since you don't have the bars yet, hopefully this will help you decide on length as well as initial adjustment.

Before I would spend my money on ladder bars (cause your gonna need more parts besides the bars),I would spend it on other stuff like better carb, bigger headers,etc....Stuff like that cause the times your running now,you dont NEED ladder bars!!!!!

This is very true.. I am kind of stuck now on what to do. I only have alittle over 300 bucks of extra cash to spend at the present moment and kind of figured that ladder bars would be another step in the right direction. Can't afford a carburetor. Unless I go with a main body and build it from there?? I could also order up a kit to make headers possibly for the money I got? LOL I don't know what to do!!!!
