I have more than 1" that hits the stock firewall as marked on the tape and I cant move the engine enough down or forward to make it not hit the firewall.

Well if you are going to run that type you will need to cut the firewall. If you dont wanna do that then go with a CSR one piece one. You will still need to massage the tunnel a bot but wont have to remove any part of the firewall.

sometimes the SFI inspector will let you mod a product and still let it pass.My idea is if i use an alan bolt and bend the shield to clear the firewall flat on the trans in that area I can drill a hole for the alan to tighten the bolt in those 2 places.

Yea there no way I could put one of them on my car. and the one piece carbon shield would be hard. I thought if I had to run one. I might do one of them aftermarket bell housing.

I know an ultra bell would make it easier but cost much more so in my own hard headed ways I have to try.I measured some more on my mockup trans and if I bend at the lines in a 45* or more it will fit but need the hole for the bolt that would be impossable to see in the car.

Why do you NEED a flex plate shield?? I thought that was for the Chebby guys.

9.99 faster needs a shield unless you have an sfi bell.or something like that.

With no ring gear for the starter on the flex plate of a Mopar,,,I don't see the need. I guess rules are rules though if you want to race NHRA.

I would personally just run the CSR shield instead of that and a blanket.

Those shields aren't ment to be installed on a stock bodied car, they fit best on chassis cars or dragsters where they can be added to the car as part of the original build plan, you'll have to butcher the car to get it to fit

I had the CSR full shield on the woman's car and it hit the seam where the firewall and tunnel are spot welded together. If you bend the flanges flat to the floorpan it will clear good. I got it to work without bending it but then the shifter cable was getting smashed and it shifted hard.
I finally on the last rebuild took off the shield and installed a blanket. Fits Great, shifts Great, works for tech, and all is Good.
Sorry I can't help you on that flywheel shield though.
Maybe it is hitting the flanges like mine did.
David

Make the tunnel bigger, you'll be happy you did. Easier to get the trans out.

Thanks for all the info on the CSR but I would rather use an ultra bell and a blanket before that.I would assume that none of you have tried to mod the flexplate shield to see if tech would pass it but speekup if you have,I can't be the 1st 1 to try!

Cutting or trimming your shield invalidates the SFI certification – Hence nobody will pass it in real tech inspection (divisional or national meet). Local track inspection maybe – being that they use the better than nothing rule! - You seem to want to re-invent the wheel – the CSR Kevlar shield is a much better way to go and a whole lot safer in the long run – it should fit with a little BFH finesse on the body seam lip in the trans tunnel – Blankets and clunky shields are things of the past since the Kevlar shield came out. Just ask anybody who has exploded a T-Flight and had a kevlar shield to contain it.
