I'm building a 904 to go in a 3600 pound car that is currently running 9.7's and a 727. Got all the good parts in the 904 like billet shafts, servos, A&A trans brake VB etc but I have a question regarding the front clutch. I'm using the TCS billet drum with the multi-spring pack and with some juggling of the thin and thick red alto plates and the thin and thick kolene steels I am able to get 6 clutches in this drum with .065 clearance. All the information I see regarding the 904 they all talk about five clutches, never six. Is there a problem running the six plates in the front clutch? I have the longer splined rear clutch drum so engagement with the plates is not an issue. I'd like to run six if possible for the added durability even though it will slow down the 2-3 shift slightly.

Thanks

you can run 6 clutch's in a stock 5 clutch drum if you do like you said and juggle the thick an thin clutch's and plates, I do it with mine all the time and it works just fine,,so the answer is yes you can as long as you get the proper clearance and it sounds like you have.

Thanks Bill. Now I need a few more thin plates for the rear clutch as I can't get the clearance down with the ones I have left over.

Hey Dave,

Working on a friend's Dart Sport and yes it probably will be at Top End. He was there when we were there last time but he only made a couple passes and then the oil pickup broke off in the engine ending his day. Caught it before it did any real damage.

Also working on the oil pan mods for the Green Ba$tard. We added a four inch kickout on the passenger side. Greg (gregsdart) suggested trying this to alleviate the vacuum pump problem we've had. Mike already installed new wheelie bars so that and some four link adjustments and hopefully keep the front end down this year.
