I am in the process of switching from a hyd flat tappit to a solid flat tappit in my 408 stroker "LA".Getting close to ordering the pushrods as i know they will need to be longer.Whats got me thinking is the solid appears to have a larger contact point than the hyd did.The pushrod seems to fit in the solid ,but im not sure if its right. The old hyd were Edelbrock lifters ,and the new solids are Isky Hardenable's.The pushrods measure .313 so i guess they are 5/16 .These are ball cup style ,but the pusrod is just tappered on the lifter end and doesnt have the "Ball" end on it.The solid Isky is on the right and the hyd Edelbrock is on the left. Please excuse my ignorance with Mopars, as im new to them ...

This is my personal "pet peeve" with lifters for Chrysler engines.

1) 5/16 dia is the "normal" pushrod ball dia.
2) Many companies make the lifters to fit both 3/8 and 5/16.

But trying to find out which are and which are not is like pulling teeth (from your own mouth). FWIW, I am guessing the 5/16" dia pushrod ball end is just fine. I have run both 3/8 and 5/16 ends with Comp cams lifters. And 3/8 pushrod ends with MP solid lifters; but others have run 5/16" pushrod ends.
