Will spindles, discs and calipers from a 68 B'Cuda 340 fit a 66 B'Cuda with a 273. If so what would be a good price.....Mopar2ya

As an assembly most everything will interchange from 1963-1976 with a few exceptions. Traditionally, the 63-72 models are grouped together whilt the 73-76 models received several upgrades that should be considered.

They'll fit if that is what you really want. That would be a SBP setup with the KH four piston calipers. Not a great set of brakes in the big picture, but okay for a car that isn't driven too hard. Most people take the oppotunity to upgrade to the big bolt pattern but it is a hassle since then you also have to do the rear wheels at the same time and buy 4 new wheels.

Something that Mopar crowd has had to deal with for 40 years because some nitwit at the factory decided to use two different bolt patterns on the same basic car.

The fellow that has these for sale says they are the big bolt pattern. He said the 340 cars in 68 came with big bolt pattern. Are there any casting or part numbers i can look for before i make him an offer??

No such thing as a big bolt pattern A body car until 1973.

IT is sad that so many sellers are misinformed when dealing with Mopar stuff. Some people really need an education on these cars. There must be more idiots associated with Mopars than any other brand. Who ever hears the same complaints about Chevy guys? Is this because our cars are more complicated? Has anyone ever said they owned a 68 SS 454 Chevelle with 4 wheel discs and a 5 speed?
As stated above, there were no big bolt pattern production A bodies in 1968. The 1973 model year was the first that Unicast 11" rotors and single piston iron calipers were offered, and they were all 4.5 bolt pattern.

See if the guy will email you a picture. It is very easy to tell the difference between the KH four piston caliper and the later model single piston setup. Those are the two obvious choices for brakes on an A-body car. (There are other variations depending on how much of a cornball the owner is of course.)

A 68 barracuda is 45 years old. No telling what a previous owner might have done. We were swapping to bbp brakes back in the eighties. Like was said before, ask for a pic and we can tell what he has.

Its an older guy that has them and he is about a half hour drive. My bet is that he is mistaken about the bolt pattern. I will go have a look and take some pictures.

Ask him to go out with his tape & measure from the rear side of any wheel stud to the center of not the adjacent stud but the next one over & it'll either be 4" or 4&1/2".

This disc brake question by the op is real simple to answer.
If the brake caliper, is a four piston caliper, it's a Kelsey Hayes, small bolt pattern brake system, that's on the car.
If it has a single piston caliper, it's big bolt pattern, swaped on from a Later A body car, B or E body, or even a F, M, J, car.

Will the large bolt pattern fit my car, a 66 B'Cuda. The price sounds right at 250. There are spindles, calipers and rotors.

yes & it will increase the front track out a bit maybe 1/4" per side but you'll be getting new wheels anyway. 15's may not fit unless you use very low profile tires. If you replace the calipers ask for 76 dart ones as they are 2.75" bore dia as opposed to 2.6" on the 73-75 A units & more front bias is always needed. $250 sounds steep (to me). Mount the spindles on the appropriate side so the calipers are in the front (I'm assuming no swaybar) and ask for 78 volare brake hoses (just cut off half of the metal bracket that is crimped on the middle of the hose) & MP has the recommended (by me) ribbed washers that go on either side of the banjo bolt # 6030084

You will also need 73-76 A-body upper control arms as the large bolt spindles use the larger ball joint. I would check and see if those are included too for that price.

DRDIFF has a balljoint spacer kit that adapts the early [small]joint stud to the 73-76 spindles. i have used this before and it works great ! this was used because the upper arms were ZERO rust and just rebuilt with new bushings and balljoints. price was very reasonable too !
