I would like to build a Hemi TDC & cam degreeing tool as per the pic below.

Can anyone give me the exact measurement from the centre line of the cylinder bores to the centre line of the lifter bores, Thanks

There is no exact demension since deck height, piston bore angle and lifter bore angles, alignment and other varables come into play. But the spec that is used for machine control on number 1 intake lifter bore centerline to number 1 piston bore centerline is 3.625+- measured on parallel axis.
I don't see the necessity of this demension for finding TDC or degreeing the cam.The only way this can be accurately measured is for each block to be indicated on a CNC machine and plotted or mapped, depending on the accuracy of the manufactures tooling the lifter bores can be all over the place.

Thanks Bob.

I know way more about engineering than I do about Hemi's so I thought I would build a plate like the one above for finding TDC & holding my dial indicator to degree the cam & measuring 1" down piston volumes (through hollow centre bolt)

Kevin,
Your thought and theory both have merit, but with the Hemi and dome pistons you want to be able to accurately define TDC by a positive stop that won't flex nor damage a piston by a small point load. And be able to observe the piston.I usually use a piece of 1/2 steel fixed above the piston with one or more head bolts. One inch down piston volumes need to be measured with a clear plate such as plexiglass or similar to insure no air pockets are present.Your dial indicator should be mounted similar to your TDC stop with one or more head bolts. We use an old hydrulic lifter with the guts removed and a aluminium dowel epoxyed into it reaching above the deck to align the dial indicator and for good visibilty. My best advice as I have suggested in other post is use the KISS method and don't over think things, but as you stated your an engineer.Good luck

Thanks again Bob

Like I said I am a Hemi newbie, I don't know the tricks you guys use & there is no-one I can ask in my part of the world , I saw the plate on ebay before the seller pulled it & I thought it had merit, thanks for your more simple suggestions.

I just realised I will be in your area when I visit the US in June/July next year, maybe I should call in.

I'm trying to get to the NHRA meet at Summit Norwalk for the 4th July weekend, will you be racing there?

Thanks
