My first R block with 48 degree used standard cam bearings. One R3 used a 2" babbit. We bore the cam tunnel to take 50mm roller bearings. The other R3 was 60mm. These were all 48 degree blocks.

There is nothing about race blocks set in stone. Don't know why guys keep implying there is. Some part numbers are repeatable but many of the blocks are different depending on the date and mood of Mopar.

This is the exact reason I listed all the things I did above as a minimum to expect. Count themselves lucky if they don't have to do some of those steps.

I think at one time one of the Engine Builders said that Oil Pan bolt patterns were as various as the days of the week. Same P/N might come with a 318/340 bolt pattern one time and 360 the next ordered within a few weeks of each other. I believe they have pretty much stuck with 318/340 bolt pattern as of late????

Buying your old R3 save me a lot of Headache and $$$$. Now if I could get Bondo to finish what he needs it at his shop for and get it off to Uratchko.

What is it going to cost you when the tie bar breaks?
Sell the lifters, buy the correct ones. This is not the kind of engine to skimp on.

If its an "R" block ie no numbers after the R then it will use a cam with 48 degree lobe spacings with std LA sized stepped journals. Cams blanks are hard to find and best bet with a new block is to have cam tunnel opened up to suit 50mm. If its cheap and is tall deck 4 bolt with 340 main it will be no different really when done than a new R3.
I have one.

I misread the OP's post and thought it read R3, my mistake!

Bring your wallet.
Crane / GS products ultra pro's are north of 700.00
P.N. 1175-16
Call G.S. @ 717 838 4767 and maybe go factory direct ?
I got mine through Ryan J , but I am sure there are others who can source them.

" Morrel and Crower both prooved to be excellent choices.

I'd trust this guy's judgement too.

I think that Chris Straub deals in GS Products, he has a website I believe. Never dealt with him myself, but he is very highly regarded in the Industry. He does camshafts also.
