Since we're talking about building headers, where can I get that star shaped filler piece that fills in the space between the primary pipes before the collector is put on? I don't know what that piece is called, so its hard to find it online.
The "merge collector"? or just the piece with the 4 holes in it that is filler?
I beleive he is asking about the filler where the 4 tubes come together and form a point in the collector. http://www.coneeng.com/collector_components.html

For what its worth I just make the star.. stand 4 tubes on a piece of hard paper and trace them then cut the metal using the template... I tend to buy a slip on collector so I dont have to mess with the filler star To the OP... most times the package kits for a chevy end up being the cheapest... you will have plenty of bends and straight

Yeah.. I don't think it's worth that much of my time to go through all the steps of building it.
EBAY sells OBX 304 stainless collectors for $69 and I found a company that their price is even lower..$56!

Not sure if I'll use OBX but worth a look.
Have you used either collector or any of the products sold by these companies. That is a cheap!!It really makes me question quality!

Anybody ever use Schoenfeld collectors? If you have, how is the quality? I'm looking at their 1.75" x 3" mild steel slip-on collectors, and one place has them priced at only $36.00 each, which seems very inexpensive to me.

any of you guys buy just the flange or have them cut and put the pipes in them yourself???? any pics??? would it just been better to buy the flange with a stub in it???? just looking around and they range from 180.00 to up there...and the flanges are 40.00 up no stub... whats the thoughts on this????
I usually just mill out my own flanges then weld the tubes on(not a stub but the first section)

I've found American made mopar flanges for about $25 each in steel and $60 stainless.
