What exactly is not to many miles? I don't recall which one I have...it's been in 3-4 yrs with about 4k miles driven. It looks fine still. I did put a stop collar on the dist. that is supposed to help the wear on these things as well as steady the timing. Just a thought.

Did you put in a new bronze distributor shaft bushing in the block when the engine was built ? A worn bushing is a major contributor to premature wear on the gear.
Their is a new harder bronze gear available and I believe I got it from Milodon ?, from what I was hearing a few years ago the manufacturer that Mopar was using made a run with softer than normal bronze which did cause permature wear supposely. I've heard a few stories but other things need checked also, block bushing, gear meshing depth etc. I've ran mine for years in my hemi AAR cuda pro street car and before that it was in the race hemi I used on the drag strip for many laps with big valve springs etc. Are you using a cam button also ??

Crane has a new gear that is supposed to be better than bronze for street use. There was a thread on it, you may want to check their website.

I bought a new Crane composite gear. The instructions say not to use it on a cam that has already been run with a bronze gear.

What's your oil pressure?
If you drive around with a constant excessive high oilpressure, the gear will wear faster.

Oil pressure when cold..is 60+ lbs..warmed up stays at 40-50 over 1200 rpm ,,hot idle around 20-30 ..
